Position: Data Engineer

Role Value Proposition:
Collaborate with and across Agile teams to design, develop, test, implement, and support technical solutions in a full-stack development tools and technologies. Create and maintain optimal data pipeline architecture. Assemble large, complex data sets that meet functional and non-functional business requirements. Automate manual processes, optimize data delivery, and redesign infrastructure for greater scalability to identify, design, and implement internal process improvements. Build the infrastructure required for optimal extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) of data from a wide variety of data sources using SQL and Azure big data technologies. Build analytics tools that utilize the data pipeline to provide actionable insights into customer acquisition, operational efficiency and other key business performance metrics. Work with data and analytics experts for greater functionality in data systems. Design and implement efficient reusable ETL processing components using cutting-edge technologies and write robust tests for quality control. Build flexible application program interface (API) in iterations with end users, optimize data IO and load balancing for grid computation, develop and maintain pipelines responsible to ingest large amounts of data from a wide range sources to SparcBeyond AI platform, and optimize the feature engineering for prediction models.
Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:
Bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, or biotechnology (willing to accept foreign education equivalent) plus eight (8) years of experience building big data pipelines, architectures and data sets, including two (2) years of experience planning, designing and supervising construction of big data pipelines, architectures and/or data sets. Specific skills/other requirements: performing root cause analysis on internal and external data to identify opportunities for improvement using big data frameworks and tools, including Hadoop, HBase, Hive and Pig (4 years); manipulating, processing and extracting value from large disconnected datasets, applying knowledge of Azure Data Factory and Azure Data Lake Analytics (1 year); performing ETL coding and feature engineering for data science projects using Python and Apache Spark (3 years); delivering big data solutions using open-source languages, including Python and Scala on Apache Spark framework to support cross-functional teams (3 years); leveraging visualization tools, including Apache Zeppelin and Power BI, to analyze datasets (1 year); designing optimal ETL data processing architecture for analytical record datasets to create predictive models and/or real-time scoring functions (1 year); and integrating and testing the source code using continuous integration and deployment tools, including Bamboo, Jira, or Bitbucket (1 year).
