Purpose and Objectives

Technology & Innovation (T&I) is responsible for SAP’s overall platform and technology development such as SAP Cloud Platform and SAP HANA. In addition, T&I drives the incubation and adoption of intelligent technologies like Analytics, SAP Leonardo Machine Learning and IoT across SAP’s product portfolio. The T&I board area is also in charge of SAP’s global innovation agenda and builds new business model- and market driven innovations to help customers realize the most business value.

As an Intern Backend Developer in our Conversational AI team, you use your advanced Java, Node.js, Ruby on Rails, and/or Python skills to implement and improve features in our backend- and NLP-applications. You work closely with product owners to understand the product requirements and with data scientists to industrialize the machine-learning NLP workers.

Expectations and Tasks

• Work with data scientists to build and implement machine-learning features
• Build robust and scalable backend systems
• Find and address performance issues
• Participate in design and code reviews

Education and Qualifications

Required

• Pursuing Bachelors, Masters or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Science or related field
• Proven ability to work with: Java, Python, Ruby, and/or JavaScript
• Good understanding of REST APIs and their development
• Experience with devops tools like Jenkins, Docker, Kubernetes, Helm etc.
• A real passion for a clean and structured code, and communication about best-practices
• Excellent English communication skills

Nice to have

• Proven experience with test automation and continuous integration
• Experience with natural language understanding technologies and prior experience with building bots on https://cai.tools.sap gets you brownie points
