POSITION SUMMARY:

The Monetization team at Smule sits at the intersection of product, marketing, and growth, helping to shape the company’s approach to forecasting, pricing, revenue maximization, and business model innovation. The individual will help define the future of Smule via owning how our global pricing affects our business. As Smule evolves from high growth startup to global enterprise, this position will be an important stakeholder defining that expansion. Drawing on your analytical and operational skillsets, the job is develop a comprehensive pricing strategy, shape tests and our testing platform in order to verify the impact of pricing changes, and then implement and expand on these changes alongside key stakeholders in Product, Marketing, and Growth and over our portfolio of apps, bundles, and geographies. The individual will be in the room for the company’s biggest discussions because of how core monetization is to the future of our business.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Combine business logic, rigorous analysis, and strategic perspective to develop an overall pricing strategy for Smule’s family of offerings
  • Drive price changes through the design and execution of split tests and other optimization opportunities
  • Build and maintain pricing models, working with the data teams to translate KPIs and test results into conclusions and operational decisions
  • Identify, execute and manage specific initiatives to further the company's ability to effectively price products, such as better understanding price elasticity of demand and analyzing the effectiveness of past pricing decisions
  • Work with the other members of the Monetization team to establish pricing best practices for our business as well as feed pricing inputs into the overall drivers and priorities of the business
  • Work alongside our analytics team to identify and implement improvements in analytical techniques and data infrastructure to improve the quality of pricing decisions
  • Champion upgrades to our testing platform to enable us to better scale and draw conclusions from our tests
  • Apply external market knowledge, internal context and roadmap, and history as a key lens to inform pricing decisions

QUALIFICATIONS (education, years of experience, skills, specialized knowledge, etc.):

  • 3+ years of experience working in a quantitative role, preferably for a consumer web or mobile company
  • BA/BS in a quantitative or analytical field (e.g. Marketing/Marketing Science, Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Finance, or Economics), MBA a plus
  • Strong hands-on experience with Excel, SQL a plus
  • Strong analytical skills including familiarity with statistical techniques such as multivariable regression
  • Proven experience leading data driven projects from definition
  • Ability to distill complex results into a clear, persuasive, and actionable presentation
  • Strong attention to detail and desire to get to the root of a problem
  • Think and work independently, demonstrate creativity and deliver quick results, yet demonstrate a team-player attitude
