Lyft is looking for a Communications Manager based in Vancouver on a 6-month contract to own media relations in British Columbia. You will support all communications efforts focused on Lyft's markets in this region, from brainstorming creative story angles and spearheading proactive media outreach to responding to inbound requests and serving as the primary media contact on regulatory/policy issues. You will report to the Communications Manager for Canada based in Toronto.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop relationships with media contacts in British Columbia
  • Own local media outreach and respond to inbound press inquiries
  • Serve as media relations contact with local press around regulatory matters
  • Brainstorm and assemble an arsenal of creative press angles for each city to reach a range of audiences
  • Secure media opportunities to build awareness in each market, working closely with the local General Manager, Local Marketing Manager and Public Policy Manager, driver communities, and outside agencies
  • Develop strategies and tactics to introduce Lyft in new markets

Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree plus a minimum of 5+ years of relevant communications experience
  • Excellent writing, editing, and communications skills
  • Strong organizational skills, ability to meet deadlines, and attention to detail
  • Ability to exercise discretion and independent judgment in the representation of Lyft
  • Lyft user/believer
