Our group
The Global Viasat Marketing team is comprised of Brand Strategy, Corporate Communications, Public Relations, Social Media, Editorial, Content Strategy, Market Intelligence, and a full-service, in-house Creative Marketing design and video team.

This role
The Senior Marketing Operations Manager will be responsible for managing critical operations functions within Viasat’s Creative Marketing team. You'll look to understand business objectives and ensure the Company’s external communications and creative projects align with business needs and goals. This position reports to Viasat’s Deputy Chief Marketing Officer and will work closely with the Creative Director, Head of Social Media, Head of Editorial Content, and Marketing Project Managers, among others.
Marketing Operations serves as the backbone of the Viasat marketing team, delivering planning, governance and support functions to allow core marketing functions to focus on delivering value.
Responsibilities include:
- Improve productivity and return on investment via workflow experimentation, tools & process optimizations
- Develop a highly engaged team, growing skills, and expanding talent pool
- Maintain proactive communications regarding account status across multiple account stakeholders including creative team members, internal account managers, and senior management
- Act as business owner and requirements driver for workflow and process management software
- Assess and then continually innovate and improve Marketing Services processes and workflow
- Work with the cross-functional team leads to establish, implement and report-out on weekly & monthly KPIs across all functional areas within Viasat Marketing
- Work with the Market Research & Intel team to create a framework for constructive review of tier-one Creative Marketing programs; pull metrics and provide a forum for collaboration and review to course-correct programs, as needed
- Constantly monitor and improve customer satisfaction as it relates to successful project management
- Create and document marketing services operations best practices policies and procedures and provide detailed Trend Analysis reporting on all creative job performance
- Manage, lead and develop a team of employees through timely performance feedback delivered during day-to-day observations, file reviews, quarterly conversations, and an annual performance review
- Responsible for creating individual development plans and business objectives designed to enhance and assist employee growth
- Support the leadership of cross-functional project teams that include strategy, creative, analysts, and production through all phases of the project
- Develop and track productivity measurements including output, cycle time, quality, and resource allocation
- Oversee DAM system optimization, ongoing implementation, and roadmap
- Continue to optimize workflow management tools and process for internal teams and agency partners
- Manage capacity across functional groups (including Creative Services, product teams, and external agencies)
- Ensure marketing compliance with UDAP laws and all legal regulations
- Continually audit team needs, identifying where gaps may exist; work on plan to incorporate new technology, skillsets or outside services as needed
- Maintain a Comms & Creative partner/vendor/supplier roster; review annually to ensure cost efficiencies
- Manage all back-end components of the external partner/vendor/supplier relationship—from initial contact through contracts/renewals; work across internal teams (IT, Finance, Contracts, Procurement, etc.) on approvals
- Develop and apply a blended team rate to all internal businesses; ensure accurate internal recharge system tied to monthly timekeeping metrics
- Benchmark the blended rate card internally and against industry standards; review the rate card annually
- Work with the Deputy CMO and Marketing Finance Lead to manage the annual budget
- Deliver monthly and quarterly budget, expense and vendor management reconciliations
Requirements
- 10+ years of experience in Project Management or Traffic Management in a creative environment
- 2+ years of experience working in an Agile Marketing environment Certified Scrum Master, Master Certificate in Project Management and/or PMP Certification preferred
- Proven experience working in an environment where marketing compliance is a priority for the organization
- Proven leadership abilities with teams of all sizes
- Solid knowledge of metrics and ability to translate metrics into increased efficiencies
- Demonstrated passion about the power of ideas and ideas and about creating best-in-class marketing communications
- Superior project management, organization and time management skills including creating and actively managing integrated timelines and budgets
- Ability to build and maintain strong relationships within immediate area of business, and when necessary, identifies resources in other areas of the business that can be utilized
- Ability to provide “win-win” solutions while resolving customer service issues in a positive and professional manner
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong knowledge of MS PowerPoint, Word, Excel and social media platforms; experience working with Project Management Software such as Workfront, Excel + SmartSheet, as well as comfortable learning new internal programs for opening project numbers, inputting milestones, critical path and track approval flow, etc.
- Confident communicator and presenter, with an ability to present plans to senior leadership teams
- Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, Advertising or related field
- US Citizenship or Permanent Resident Status required
- Ability to travel up to 15%
