Eaton’s Electrical Power Distribution Inc. is currently seeking a Test Engineering Manager to join our team. This position is based at our Richmond, VA facility. Relocation assistance is available for this role.

This position will involve extensive collaboration with new product development, product support teams, and manufacturing operations to develop and execute design verification, product reliability and industry compliance test programs on Power Distribution Units, Static Transfer Switches, Remote Power Panels, Overhead Busway, and Dry Type LV Transformers and reactors/inductors. This role will lead continuous improvement initiatives to enhance test department safety, efficiency, and capabilities. Responsibilities include all customer orders and new product development.

In this function you will:
  • Demonstrate safe working and test practices. Collaborate with plant EH&S, Maintenance, and QA functions to ensure compliance with required policies, upkeep, and calibration. Lead creation and improvements to lab and test procedure documentation.
  • Execute system level verification and compliance tests including: HV dielectric, short-circuit duty, temperature rise, mechanical endurance, electronic control EMI/EMC testing and others.
  • Direct a team of test engineers and technicians across multiple sites. Lead creative and innovative improvements to lab equipment, test methods, instrumentation and data acquisition.
  • Document and communicate results to sponsoring engineer or team and collaborate with same to resolve issues encountered during test.
  • Lead lean initiatives in the lab/test area to improve lab/test safety and efficiencies.
  • Set aggressive goals, measures performance, and strives to go beyond what is expected.
  • Constantly look for ways to improve processes, products and services; appropriately challenges the status quo.

QualificationsRequired (Basic) Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Math or Physics from an accredited institution required.
  • Minimum 10 years of engineering experience.
  • Minimum 2 years of management experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Expertise in magnetics design, test and qualification.
  • Experience in industrial automation and controls and data systems.
  • Experience in electrical and/or electro-mechanical testing of low voltage power equipment.
  • Experience in UL1062, UL891, UL1561, UL857, UL60950, UL1008s, IEEE C57.12.
  • Experience in automated test equipment design and implementation data networks (Ethernet, TCP/IP, CANBUS, optical fiber, routers), I/O systems, bus architectures and operating systems.
  • Experience with test instrumentation (industrial controllers and I/O interfaces).
  • Experience with AutoCad, SolidWorks, OPS, or similar design programs.
