Job Description BAE Systems, a provider of some of the world's most advanced, technology-led defense, aerospace and security systems, is seeking a highly motivated experienced Business Development Manager to join our team.
The Business Development Manager is responsible for identifying and qualifying new business in support of current and future opportunities related to Future Vertical Lift efforts in the U.S. market. The selected individual will be responsible for leading customer engagement with assigned customers, qualifying pursuits in accordance with business success criteria, filling a robust pipeline of opportunities, and driving sales to completion. This role simultaneously oversees all aspects of several near and long-term opportunity developments and will also contribute to the prioritization of new business pursuits, and the development of marketing plans, capture strategies and customer value proposition.
The right candidate will have a strong understanding and customer affinity to interface regularly with Service, platform primes, and mission system integrators, and will be familiar with DoD requirements and acquisition processes. She/he should have a strong aviation operational background and will need to bring, develop and maintain strong business relationships with key decision makers within these organizations as well as inside industry. In The BD Manager will develop and maintain close, trusted partner relationships with offices of senior military and civilian US Government customers, current and prospective customers, as well as industry partners and suppliers related to Future Vertical Lift efforts.
The ideal candidate will have a firm understanding of all the assigned program offices along with mission solution requirements and challenges. The candidate will:
- Identify and qualify a robust pipeline of focused opportunities that align Business Area objectives.
- Possess an intimate knowledge of DoD and Army aviation Rotary Wing platforms including Future Vertical Lift strategies and acquisition approaches.
- Maximize and create market opportunities by building strong customer relationships. This will include holistic Customer mapping and communication plans with current and new customer offices, and also leveraging existing knowledge and relationships maintained across the ES business.
- Develop customer value propositions based upon target customer and platform needs to mature internal strategies.
- Educate customer on emerging mission survivability systems and capabilities; the value these capabilities provide to close their mission gaps.
Required Skills and Education - Active Secret clearance
- Experience in DoD acquisition Policy and Execution
- Strong understanding of the Army Aviation Mission
- Strong understanding of DoD Planning, Programming, Budgeting and Execution
- Understanding, insight and influence at: DoD customer community and platform primes
- Ability to create and maintain customer relationships with Senior Government officials: Officer and Civilian Leadership, Colonel (O-6)
Preferred Skills and Education - Top Secret
- Requirements Development
- MS or Marketing degree (or equivalent)
- Strong customer relationship building
- Tactical Operations implementation and understanding
