What does a Teacher Operations Manager do at Busuu?

You will be responsible for leading, training, and developing the online teaching faculty for Verbling, one of Busuu's online language tutoring platforms. You will oversee all teacher recruitment, training and onboarding, and be responsible for maintaining the motivation and success of the entire faculty by carrying out teacher development and teacher training initiatives.

You'll liaise closely with our teacher operations, education, and CS teams to make sure our teacher faculty is well taken care of and performs to the highest standards.

What we're looking for from a Teacher Operations Manager

We are looking for a highly-organised people person, with solid online teaching experience as well as experience of managing teacher teams and online academic programmes within an organisation.

• You've worked in an educational institution or business with blended or fully digital programmes and have a strong understanding of how to lead, develop and motivate global teacher teams.
• You have a qualification in language teaching, and 3+ years of experience teaching in an online environment.
• You have a strong command of English and speak a second language to at least a B2 level (preferably Spanish, but additional languages are also desirable).
• You have a good understanding of e-mail etiquette.
• You feel comfortable leading virtual meetings and brainstorming sessions.
• You enjoy collaborative working, and are confident interacting with people from different cultural backgrounds, product, engineering, marketing and subject matter experts to build and manage educational programmes.
• You enjoy hands-on work, including all aspects of teacher admin, training and development and operations.
• You're a big-picture thinker, and know what is needed to rapidly and effectively develop and motivate a large team of online teachers.
