Organization:
The Business Operations & Strategy team at Chegg plays a critical role in defining and driving operational strategy across the Learning Services (“LS”) organization. Working with key senior leaders across various business units within LS, the BizOps team is a high-impact team that combines analytical, operational, and strategic expertise to identify and execute on projects critical to Chegg’s growth. Ongoing projects range from developing go-to-market strategies for specific products to refining monetization strategies for various customer segments to evaluating the ROI of existing and proposed initiatives.
The Role:
Reporting to the Director of Business Operations and Strategy, the Manager will be responsible for developing strategic frameworks that drive our operational investments across Chegg’s Learning Services group. As a part of their responsibilities, the Manager will be engaging in constant dialogue between company executives and business leaders across the organization. The right person will be independent, dynamic, strategic, and collaborative with an ability to digest and prioritize large amounts of data to craft a narrative.
Responsibilities and Requirements:
Individuals will be responsible for meeting the criteria as described below. Individuals should provide examples of their ability to meet the expectations of the role, demonstrating a proven track record of capability.
• Responsible for spearheading projects and enjoys rolling up your sleeves to deliver results resourcefully
• Proactive and self-starting. A seasoned, experienced professional who is motivated to drive a project to completion with limited supervision
• Comfortable with creating and executing on strategic frameworks that ultimately lead to actionable recommendations
• Examine existing business operations to identify gaps and opportunities
• Create an analytical and research-based approach to expanding into new customer segments, product categories and content areas
• Play a central role in contract negotiations, content investments and product expansion, ensuring that we utilize deeply studied models, scenario analysis, and competitive research
• Be a key contributor to our strategy and execution within the learning services portfolio using analytics, competitor research, financial models and operational intelligence
• Develop relationships with decision makers across various functional organizations to gain a deep understanding of their needs, gaps and opportunities
• Present regularly to the C-team and operational leaders on insights and strategic recommendations
Required Qualifications and Skills:
All individuals should hold the following qualifications, or have equivalent experience, as applicable. All individuals should be able to provide examples of the indicated skills and competencies.
• Minimum of 6+ years of experience in investment banking/private equity/venture capital, management consulting, business operations, corporate strategy, or equivalent experience in a technology/media company
• Meaningful operational and strategic experience, preferably at a fast-growing company
• Extensive financial modeling experience and/or deep understanding of how key business drivers affect a company’s financials
• Demonstrated ability to drive business insights and operational improvement in a collaborative, cross-functional environment
• Highly analytical, strategic and creative thinker with strong business judgment
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to build relationships, influence stakeholders, and inspire others
• Experience in communicating and interacting with executive-level personnel to share, inform, improve and maintain open dialogue
• Passion for improving people’s lives through education
