Research Scientist - Computational Photography (PhD)

AR/VR | Seattle, WA

FRL is seeking a Research Scientist to join the Computational Photography team, a research organization focused on advancing computational photography and image understanding technology that let us enhance image and video, track and augment faces, bodies, and the 3D world, and capture and share the 3D world with high fidelity. Individuals in this role are expected to be recognized experts in identified research areas such as Computer Vision, Computer Graphics, Machine Learning, AR, VR, and Computational Photography.

Responsibilities
  • Lead research to advance the science and technology in Computer Vision, Graphics, Machine Learning, AR, VR, and Computational Photography.
  • Work towards long-term ambitious research goals, while identifying intermediate milestones.
  • Influence progress of relevant research communities by producing publications.
  • Contribute research and demos that are relevant to Facebook’s mission.
  • Lead and collaborate on research projects within a globally based team.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Currently has or is in the process of obtaining a PhD degree in the field of Computer Science or similar.
  • Proven track record of achieving results, demonstrated by co-authored publications at high-impact peer-reviewed computer vision, computer graphics, or machine learning conferences or journals (e.g. CVPR, SIGGRAPH, ICCV, ECCV).
  • 3+ years of experience working with computer vision datasets (e.g., benchmark evaluations).
  • 3+ years of experience in leading computational photography, computer vision, computer graphics, or machine learning research projects.
  • 3+ years of experience with Python and/or C++ programming languages.
  • Must obtain work authorization in country of employment at the time of hire and maintain ongoing work authorization during employment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Internship experience and/or research assistantship(s) in a research organization.
  • Experience communicating research to public audiences of peers.
