Description
Joining Intuitive Surgical means joining a team dedicated to using technology to benefit patients by improving surgical efficacy and decreasing surgical invasiveness, with patient safety as our highest priority.

The Manager, Customer Training Programs, will report directly to the Director or Sr. Manager of Customer Training. As a member of the customer training leadership team, this individual will be a key player in developing and supporting da Vinci system technology training programs specifically focusing on surgeon-led training programs. The Training Manager will be actively involved in the continuous improvement of these programs and will manage a team of Program Managers.

Roles and Responsibilities:

• Partners with key opinion leaders to establish program goals and structure to build surgeon-led training programs that support customers’ development of da Vinci system technology skills.
• Coordinates with customer training team and marketing teams to ensure training support is properly allocated to meet surgeon-led training program needs.
• Collaborates with marketing and sales teams to gain alignment on course needs when launching new procedures.
• Collaborates with national and key accounts to build strategies for national IDN’s.
• Measures advanced training program effectiveness and implements enhancements as necessary.
• Provides feedback to surgeon hosts on the quality of surgeon-led training programs.
• Takes into account both the needs of the business and the team when making decisions.
• Effectively balances organizational, team and individual needs in decisions taken. Involves team members in certain decisions to increase engagement and develop decision-making skills in others. Effectively resolves issues or problems so that there is minimal escalation required.
• Effectively plans, organizes and prioritizes the work of multiple team members. Successfully monitors interim progress to ensure deliverables will meet quality, time, budget and stakeholder expectations.
• Uses communication skills in an effective manner that provides clear advice and direction to team members as well as internal and external customers.
• Ensures communications are consistently appropriate to the audience and their needs. Seeks to incorporate motivational and other influencing techniques to inspire others to act as needed.

Qualifications

Core competencies, Skills and Experience Requirements:

• 10+ years of Training / Professional Education / Business experience
• B.A. / B.S. Degree in Clinical or Health Sciences, Healthcare Management, Business Administration, Communications, Education
• Preferred candidate has current or recent experience in a PEPS Program Manager role
• Significant experience with professional education program development
• Demonstrated ability to mentor and develop others
• Demonstrated ability to create and manage training projects and initiatives with measureable outcomes
• Demonstrated ability to work with KOLs in a program development or teaching capacity
• Demonstrated ability to work cross departmentally as well as with external parties to achieve goals
• Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, medical disease states, surgical applications and operating room environment
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Strong interpersonal skills
• Knowledge of adult learning principles preferred
• Medical-device experience preferred

Education and Training Requirements

Bachelor’s degree required preferably in Clinical or Health Sciences, Healthcare Management, Engineering, Business Administration, Communications or Education
