Job Description

Role Summary

GM is undergoing a major transformation, both in how we operate and in how we will influence the future of transportation. This individual is responsible for improving customer satisfaction by leading product resolution of warranty claims and other key customer satisfaction survey results.

Responsibilities:

  • Analyze warranty data, Track Pareto of issues and prioritize their resolution
  • Track and understand quality indicator numbers (IPTV, CPV/spend) and help reduce warranty (sufficiency planning)
  • Engage and support DREs, EGMs, SQ, BQM and Suppliers to root cause and help resolve QRD (Quality Reliability Durability) issues
  • Act as a leader of lessons learned, read across and issue follow-up between different programs
  • Keep Product Warranty Engineers, Continuous Product Improvement Teams and System Management Teams up to date on issues
  • Give status updates on launch issues to Program teams
  • Support investigations with specific DTCS and PID analysis
  • Provide short and long term QRD analysis
  • Ensure service information accuracy with respect to support area
  • Understand the customer and how their new vehicle is satisfying their expectations. This will be achieved by reviewing several sources of customer survey data (such as JD Power customer survey) and dealer warranty claim data.
  • Work with suppliers on warranty return part analysis and their findings
  • This position is a global leadership assignment, meaning the selected QRD Engineer will coordinate and lead discussions with all other regions, in the assigned commodities.
  • Travel may be required to suppliers, assembly plants and is estimated to not exceed 10% of total time.
  • Concise emails, meetings and verbal communication are necessary traits of a successful QRD Engineer.

Required Skills / Experience:

  • BS in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
  • 2 years of post-graduation engineering experience required working with automotive electronic modules / systems; 5+ years strongly preferred
  • Design Release experience preferred
  • Experience with Electromechanical design
  • Experience with various warranty systems: GART, QIS2, AQA, SAS EG, Tracker GART etc.
  • Ability to work effectively within multi-disciplinary teams
  • Automotive development experience
  • DFSS Green Belt (Black Belt preferred)
  • Experience with DFMEA
  • Excellent knowledge of the Vehicle Development Process
  • High level of interpersonal skills to work effectively with others including global partners
  • Self-motivated with demonstrated ability to work independently to solve highly complex problems and lead teams to consensus when needed
  • High level of analytical ability where problems are unusual or difficult
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • This position requires legally operating a motor vehicle on a daily basis
