SmartThings is looking for a Software Quality Engineering Manager to lead the Platform Quality team in Mountain View, California. Made up of Software Quality Engineers and Software Development Engineers in Test, the Platform Quality (PQ) team has expertise in applications, microservices, accessibility, firmware, and software testing methodologies. As subject matter experts of the SmartThings platform, the PQ team advocates for the customer experience, collaborating across product, engineering, and customer support teams at Samsung and SmartThings.


    • Manages and professionally develops Software Quality Engineers (SQE) and Software Development Engineers in Test (SDET).
    • Assigns and prioritizes work for team members.
    • Connect and partner closely with Product and Engineering teams to ensure seamless integration with product roadmap delivery schedules.
    • Identifies opportunities and implements strategies to improve platform quality through tools or processes.
    • Cultivates relationships with Product, Engineering, Quality, and Support teams to build understanding and effectively advocate for quality practices.
    • Collaborates with leadership to define and implement Objectives & Key Results for the Platform Quality team.
    • Effectively communicates team status verbally and through documentation to internal and external stakeholders.
    • Advocate for the team by moving decisions forward and eliminating blockers
    • Ensure the development and coaching of your team, providing timely and professional feedback, and working on career plans to support and nurture each team member’s growth.


    • 7+ years software development testing experience
    • 3+ years people management or team leadership experience
    • BS in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or related technical field
    • Knowledge of software development life cycle, especially Agile
    • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, including the ability to navigate communication with multiple stakeholders in a fast-paced environment
    • Travel: May include 10-15% (when safe to do so)
