ADON Assistant Director of Nursing - Full-time - 1.0 FTE - Alexian Village of Milwaukee

What You Will Do

As the Assistant Director of Nursing, you will be responsible for assisting in the management, coordination and maintenance of an efficient, productive and organized clinical department. In absence of the Director of Nursing, you will have administrative authority over the functions and activities of the nursing department.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work cooperatively and efficiently with departmental ministry leadership
  • Assist in developing, organizing and implementing clinical services and programs
  • Effectively communicate policies, expected outcomes, efficient work routines and work procedures to the clinical staff
  • Assist with implementation and evaluation of quality of care including on-going auditing of quality indicators
  • Assure adherence to clinical policies and procedures within departmental guidelines
  • Assist with admissions, discharges and transfers to assure appropriate care and compliance with state and/or federal regulations
  • Assume administrative authority for clinical departments in the absence of the DON
  • Assist in maintaining nursing budgets
  • Assume a ministry presence that monitors resident care
  • Oversee completion of clinical documentation per ministry policy and state and federal regulations
  • Follow regulatory and ministry standards, policies, procedures and precautions in the performance of all job duties to ensure a safe work environment
  • Assume responsibility for enhancing professional knowledge and skills through participation in educational programs and seminars

Management Responsibilities

  • Interpret existing policies and procedures to licensed nurses, certified nursing assistants, certified medication aides, residents and families
  • Supervise staff, evaluate the provision of direct resident care and initiate corrective action as necessary
  • Follow staffing guidelines and make nursing assignments according to qualifications of staff and characteristics of the resident population
  • Participate in the employee evaluation process by providing information on the clinical performance of licensed nurses, certified nursing assistants and certified medications aides to the DON
  • Monitor staff compliance with infection control, personal protection equipment, blood borne pathogens, hazardous material handling and fire safety

What You Will Need

License & Certification

  • Valid Wisconsin RN license
  • BCLS certification required for LTC upon hire, or obtain within thirty days of employment

Education & Experience

  • Graduate of an accredited ADN or BSN program
  • BSN from an accredited college or university preferred
  • Three years nursing management experience in senior care
  • Experience with current and emerging delivery systems with capability of implementing changes as needed
