Job Description
As a product manager for the new Communication Platform, you will oversee the product strategy and execution to drive student, instructor, and enterprise traffic globally. Your mission will be to enable Udemy to seamlessly reach our customers (students, instructors, businesses) at the right place, at the right time, with the right cadence, and at scale through existing and new technical initiatives. Success requires a passion for building great products and enthusiasm for leading high performing teams, working in partnership with engineering, data science, marketing, and internal stakeholders in an Agile & Lean product delivery environment, leading the creation and enhancement of capabilities through the entire product lifecycle – from strategic planning through tactical execution and post-launch measurements. We are seeking a combination of strong vision, strategic leverage, team leadership, and high-velocity execution. This position will be based in Istanbul, Turkey.
Here’s what you’ll be doing:
- Lead the strategy, prioritization, and execution for new and existing communication channels (Email, Push, and more) and initiatives that support Marketing and Platform (transactional/non-transactional) for students, instructors, businesses
- Build platforms and services to deliver the right message to the right audience at the right cadence through the right channel in collaboration with your engineering, design, and data science partners across a number of marketing stakeholders
- Create a strategy and roadmap to standardize and converge all communication channels for notifying users into a single communication platform
- Collaborate with multiple engineering teams across San Francisco & Ankara, Turkey
- Leverage your understanding of our customers to propose new messaging, new channels and new tactics for growth across all our products
- Identify the highest impact work, prioritize that work, and deliver improvements in a measurable way
- Define, monitor and measure product metrics and KPIs, incorporate learnings into product definition and development process
- Build an in-depth understanding of our B2B and B2C customers, internal users, integrations, systems, API’s, marketing tools, and channels
- Drive cross-functional collaboration to deliver successful products and/or features
- Communicate product vision to senior management and various stakeholders
We’re excited about you because you have:
- 5+ years of product management experience with primary focus on email/push, retention, and/or growth marketing
- Experience with marketing email and notification platforms (Responsys, SendGrid, Braze, etc.) is highly desirable
- Understanding of product marketing frameworks and strategies
- Depth of experience leading business-critical product initiatives. You can take big ideas and turn them into a roadmap of features and research with minimal guidance.
- You have great attention to detail but base your strategy on big picture objectives
- You understand how technology can solve customer problems and can engage in the details with the engineering team to find simpler solutions
- Comfortable and skilled at presenting to audiences of all sizes, from executive meetings with our CEO to company all-hands
- Knowledge of agile development methodologies and tools
- An intuitive understanding of the differences between traditional software and data product development cycles
- Passion about the education space and the problems we are solvingBA / BS required, ideally in a technical field
Nice to haves:
- BA/BS in Computer Science or related technical field is ideal
- Experience with delivering products for two-sided marketplaces/platforms
- Experience with SQL for pulling and analyzing data
