Director of Engineering

Job Description

Director of Engineering, Narvar, Inc., San Francisco, CA. Responsibilities: Oversee and align Narvar’s technical vision given product and operational needs. Partner with our product team to develop experiences for our clients and their end consumers. Amplify the value of the Narvar platform by assuring the seamless development and deployment of our product. Manage engineering team reports, organize team structure. Attract, retain, develop, and manage top engineering talent. Promote engineering best practices and craftsmanship. Design Narvar’s SaaS solutions, specifying requirements and deciding on the program logic and flow. Research and adopt new technologies and open source implementations. Provide technical leadership and decision making for the team. Partner with product managers, designers, and customer success teams to design, develop, test, and implement our cloud solutions using an iterative and agile development methodology. Continuously improve scalability, performance, and reliability of systems. Foster a culture of creativity, collaboration, speed, innovation, excellence, and inclusion. Requirements: Master’s degree in computer science, information systems, mathematics, engineering, or a related field, and 4 years of experience in job offered or 4 years of experience in computer engineering or engineering management. Prior experience must include 4 years working with data structures and algorithms; 4 years of experience in system design; 4 years of experience working with software architectures; 4 years of experience with distributed systems; 4 years of experience working with programming languages, such as Java/JVM (Java Virtual Machine); 4 years of experience working on Linux; 4 years of experience with relational and non-relational databases; 1 years of experience with cloud technologies like Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud, or Microsoft Azure; 5 years of experience with software engineering management including performance management of engineers, recruiting and project management; and 2 years managing managers or senior technical leads. Must pass competency-based interview. In alternative, employer will accept a Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, mathematics, engineering, or a related field, and 8 years of experience in job offered or 8 years of experience in computer engineering or engineering management. Prior experience must include 8 years working with data structures and algorithms; 8 years of experience in system design; 8 years of experience working with software architectures; 8 years of experience with distributed systems; 8 years of experience working with programming languages such as Java/JVM (Java Virtual Machine); 8 years of experience working on Linux; 8 years of experience with relational and non-relational databases; 5 years of experience with cloud technologies like Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud, or Microsoft Azure; 5 years of experience with software engineering management including performance management of engineers, recruiting and project management; and 2 years managing managers or senior technical leads.
