PURPOSE AND SCOPE OF POSITION:

Key contributor to the development of Chimeric Antigen Receptor (CARs) and T Cell Receptors (TCRs) phase-appropriate manufacturing processes. This role will be responsible for phase-appropriate process development strategy formulation with support from manager/senior member of the team and drafting of appropriate regulatory filings. This role will mentor junior members in the team and will support the planning, design and execution of development experiments to enable robust manufacturing process design.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Will be part of a CMC team and will be responsible for the strategy and development of phase-appropriate manufacturing process platforms with support from manager/ senior member of the teams. In this role you will also bring in innovation and next generation technologies into the platform work.
  • Design complex T-Cell experiments using sound scientific principles to support cell therapy process development and characterization.
  • Maintain proficiency in data analysis and effective data presentation within a cross functional team setting.
  • Influence and assist in the management of efficient Design of Experiments (DOE) in order to ensure efficient process development effort.
  • Troubleshoot and solve technical problems of moderate scope with minimal help from their manager
  • Strong collaboration across departments to participate in appropriate regulatory filing activities.
  • Timely and thorough documentation and completion of electronic laboratory notebooks
  • Author and review technical reports detailing experimental work and summarizing results
  • Maintain a safe work environment in accordance with policies/procedures/regulations
  • Mentorship of junior member of the team or direct reports
  • Supporting lab functions—including, but not limited to restocking consumables, maintaining equipment and cleaning
  • Flexibility with work schedule as maintenance of cell cultures on occasional weekends, early mornings, or evenings is required

REQUIRED COMPETENCIES: Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Education:

BS with 5+ years of experience or MS with 4+ years of experince in Biological/Chemical Engineering, Biotechnology, Biology or a relevant scientific discipline

Required skills:

2-5 years of mammalian or primary cell culture laboratory experience

Preferred skills:

  • Basic knowledge of immunology
  • Experience with T-cell selection, viral transduction, non-viral gene delivery, gene editing technologies, T-cell expansion and cryopreservation
  • Experience in executing and analyzing data from multicolor flow cytometry or bioassays
  • Familiar with design of experiment approaches and statistical analysis of data
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced team environment, meet deadlines, prioritize work across multiple projects
  • Ability to manage uncertainties in projects and schedule
  • Leadership experience for junior lab staff
  • Ability to learn new technologies and acquire knowledge quickly in the rapidly expanding adoptive T-cell therapy field

WORKING CONDITIONS (US Only):

Work to be performed in a both a standard office setting as well as BSL-2 laboratory settings, which will require occasional need to lift/carry a maximum weight of 10lbs.
