The Smart Manufacturing and AI team at Micron Technology is looking for an ambitious Data Engineer. Are you curious, high velocity and ready to solve complex problems? Do you dream in SQL? Our mission is to enable the Enterprise Data Science team to deliver industry winning machine learning solutions to power Micron’s dominance in the highly cutthroat memory solutions market. Qualified applicants will be well seasoned in a variety of database technologies and have extensive practice modeling data, querying, and plumbing complex datasets. You will collaborate with Data Scientists, Engineers, Technicians and Data Mining teams to design and implement systems to extract data from Micron’s business systems.

Responsibilities include, but not limited to:

  • Build and maintain data/solution pipelines that feed machine learning models
  • Work in a technical team through development, deployment, and application of applied analytics, predictive analytics, and prescriptive analytics
  • Demonstrate your understanding of the business problem and the nature of the data to select the data management system (Big Data, OLTP, OLAP, etc.)
  • Design and actualize optimum data structures in data management systems (Hadoop, SQL Server, oracle, snowflake etc etc.) to satisfy the data requirements.
  • Plan methods for archiving/deletion of information.
  • Build custom software components and analytics applications.
  • Create/Maintain CI/CD pipelines of machine leaning models
  • Participate in Agile delivery team with on-call rotation (8-5 m-f)

Education Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Business Analytics, or related field. A master’s degree in any of the above fields of study is desired.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience data modeling for Data Warehouses
  • Understanding of how distributed systems work.
  • Familiarity with software architecture (data structures, data schemas, etc.).
  • Strong scripting and programming skills in one of the following, Python, C#, R, Javascript, MySql
  • 3+ years using ETL tools (SSIS, NiFi, Matillion, Fivetran)
  • 3+ years of experience with big data processing and/or developing applications and data sources via Hadoop, Yarn, Hive, Pig, Sqoop, MapReduce, HBASE, Flume, etc
  • 3+ years of strong working knowledge of databases (Oracle, MSSQL, etc.) including SQL and NoSQL.
  • Outstanding analytical thinking, interpersonal, oral and written communication skills
  • Proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite
  • Ability to prioritize and meet critical project timelines in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience with continuous integration/continuous delivery (CI/CD) tools (Jenkins, Git, Docker, Kubernetes)
  • Outstanding SQL skills
  • Self-motivated and team oriented

Preferred:

  • Familiar with Test Driven development and CI is helpful
  • Interest in learning data science topics including predictive modeling and machine learning
  • Experience developing in with AWS, AZURE, GCP, Snowflake
