WHAT WE'VE GOT GOING ON Looker is searching for a product manager to join our product team based in Santa Cruz or San Francisco. In the role of product manager, you will work cross-functionally to help shape and shepherd the tools that our customers use to build rich, data-driven experiences on the Looker platform. We are looking for a self-driven executor with a strong technical background and attention to detail who will help shape our platform to support the growth of new products and scale to support some of the world’s largest organizations.

WHAT WE NEED YOU TO DO

    • Understand customer needs and prioritize them in alignment with Looker’s developer platform vision.
    • Work closely with engineering and design to determine what is and isn't possible, tightly define requirements, and manage feature delivery.
    • Work cross-functionally with marketing, support, sales, and other teams to ensure successful go-to-market execution.
    • Write requirements/user stories, create mocks/wireframes, perform market research and competitive analysis, product planning and reporting.
    • Act as key product and technology evangelist and authority on the Looker platform and APIs.
    • Ownership: Own the complete Product Lifecycle: Requirements gathering, writing user stories, managing Engineering priorities and approving functional deliverables.
    • Execution: Execute to the Product KPIs & Company goals.
    • Ideation: Gather and promote the most relevant ideas into features.
    • Roadmapping: Plan and prioritize what (and when) the product teams will deliver.
    • Features: Define the “what” with user stories and requirements.
    • Go-to-market: Work with cross-functional teams to deliver a complete customer experience.

WHAT YOU BRING TO LOOKER

    • 3+ years of experience in software product management, engineering management, or architecture role.
    • Being a strong planner and staying organized are critical to the role.
    • Analytical ability and an excellent problem solver with a data-driven approach to decision-making.
    • Solid understanding of application architectures, databases, SQL, APIs, etc.
    • Experience with key product management functions, including writing requirements/user stories, and creating mocks/wireframes, market research, competitive analysis, product planning and reporting.
    • Ability to explain and evangelize the business value of technical features.
    • Experience working with engineering teams using Agile/Scrum software development.
    • Experience in defining and developing products to meet business requirements from inception to launch

PREFERRED SKILLS

    • Experience working with and/or building developer tools including APIs, SDKs.
    • Experience with big data analytics platform like Spark or Pig working with large-scale data.
    • Experience with reporting and analytic tools, Looker, DoubleClick, Omniture/Google analytics.
    • Engineering/CS background preferred
