Site Reliability Engineer

Job Description

As a Site Reliability Engineer at Coinsquare, you'll be a part of our Product and Engineering team, supporting Coinsquare's technical operations, infrastructure and applications. You're someone who thrives in a fast-paced changing environment and is looking for mentorship and growth alongside the organization and to mentor and educate others. You will live your life in a CLI. You will be used to juggling multiple issues simultaneously and making sure they all come to a conclusion. You will be used to being involved in sensitive, high stakes and time critical issues and keeping your head when the temperature is rising. Coinsquare runs 100% cloud based microservices, with a Kafka backed event architecture. Our services are completely containerized and CI/CD deployments are managed by Jenkins. Our deployed infrastructure is 100% orchestrated by Kubernetes. We make extensive use of ELK and Grafana for log ingestion and inspection.

What You'll Do:

• Work closely with engineering through the development lifecycle including diagnostics and operations
• Support and troubleshoot production systems including legacy applications
• Design, implement and improve infrastructure architecture, networking policies and orchestration
• Manage access controls to key resources in the infrastructure
• Work closely with IT and external vendors ensure smooth operations of the business 24/7
• Advise and implement best practices around site security, durability and reliability

What You'll Bring:

• 5 years of technical experience
• At least 1 year of hands managing Kubernetes, ideally with KOPS, in a real world application and experience with distributed systems such as Kafka or Cassandra and microservices architecture
You will have at least 3 years of:
• Practical experience supporting real world production systems
• Work in a DevOps/SRE capacity deploying applications
• Working knowledge of Linux, networking (TCP/IP, VPN, firewalls), software development lifecycle
• Experience operating in cloud environments, ideally AWS
• Experience using Docker, Jenkins
• Programming proficiency using python/go/bash
• Experience using GIT
• Nice to have Kubernetes Administrator Certification from the Linux Foundation
