Managing multimedia products that millions of people use every day is important work, and the Technology team is dedicated to making sure that everything New York Magazine creates is efficient and accessible. We enable other teams at New York Magazine to streamline their work and help our audience engage easily with our products.

The DevOps Engineer position will entail enhancing current standards and practices for development workflows, building out systems for infrastructure provisioning and management, and supporting technology teams by contributing to their product roadmaps and requirements. This team sits at the core of our engineering efforts and helps to establish the culture on how we operate our family of sites.

What you'll do:

• Evangelize DevOps as a culture across the technology teams
• Optimize developer workflows
• Ensure reliability and uptime of our sites
• Build out and maintain our cloud infrastructure
• Build out our monitoring and observability story with minimal complexity
• Communicate out processes and best practices to developers through tutorials and documentation

What you'll bring:

• 3-5 years of experience as in SRE, DevOps, web development, or equivalent experience engineering and orchestrating a modern cloud environment (ideally AWS)
• Intermediate proficiency in the following tools & concepts: Cloud orchestration and computing paradigms, containerization, Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud Platform, Terraform, Configuration management tooling, CI/CD, DNS management, Shell and Python scripting, CDNs, and Version Control
• Experience building future-proofed systems with clarity and reproducibility in mind
• Experience evaluating long-term implementation tradeoffs with consideration of both cost and maintainability
• Preferred experience with cloud networking, Docker, Varnish VCL, Node.js development experience, Elasticsearch, and Redis
