Job Description

Account Directors at Ueno are responsible for the well-being of the agency’s key accounts, working with clients and creative teams to grow and deepen our relationships. Account Directors report to Ueno’s Managing Director. Here’s the thing. We love our clients, and they love us. This system has worked well for everyone so far, and we really want to keep it that way. In fact, we want to make it even better. That’s where you come in. As an Account Director at Ueno, you will:
    • Make sure that we’re doing all we can for our clients, and more
    • Be their advocate and advisor
    • Represent them when they’re not in the room, and be there for them when (and preferably before) they need us
    • To be more specific, you will:
    • Own Ueno’s relationships with some of our most beloved clients
    • Make plans for how to grow and deepen those relationships (with plenty of help from the rest of us)
    • Make those plans happen (with even more help from the rest of us)
    • Work with our clients on their long-term strategy and goals, looking far beyond any current projects
    • Be alert to any and all opportunities for our teams to expand the scope of our client relationships
    • Work closely with Ueno’s designers, developers and producers, challenging and inspiring them to the best work of their careers
    • Keep your eyes firmly on the prize — we love our clients, but we also love being profitable
    • Partner with Ueno’s leadership, creative and strategic, to formulate a vision and a direction for both us and our clients
    • Wait, there’s more
    • We’ll take attitude over experience every time, but having worked for 7 to 10 years at a creative agency or a similar organization (a kindergarten, for example) is a must
    • You know things about stuff and stuff about things — by which we mean you can look at the world through the eyes of various different business verticals
    • You’ve been around, working with marketing and product people in the multi-channel environment in which we all find ourselves these days
    • You’re up to speed with the world of design, product and innovation — meaning you know the buzzwords, but don’t rely on them
    • You know what “CMO” and “CPO” stand for, and what’s more, you can think like both of them
    • You’re smart enough to know when someone is wrong, and confident enough to tell them (without being mean about it)
    • You're a fundamentally decent human being who waters your neighbors’ plants when they’re away, doesn’t use “concept” as a verb, and prefers responsible, sustainable and long-term growth to any kind of sleazy, short-term tomfoolery
