Software Engineer - Search Platform

The Opportunity:

Shutterstock is looking for top technologists to join our software engineering team and help drive the future of our platform. You will be working with highly motivated and extremely talented engineers on backend services with quality, performance, and scale in mind at every step of the way. We place a high value on mentoring junior members and having all of the team included in arch reviews and any technical discussions. We promote the idea of team members taking ownership of both services and tasks and communicating that to the wider teams in the company.

As a Search Platform Engineer you will work on the innovative search platform used to power Shutterstock’s best-in-class image and video search engine:

Responsibilities:

• Design and code massively scalable services to provide a continually improving search experience, and your work will be seen by millions of customers daily.
• Be part of a team that work on a modern platform that continually evolves to provide a best in class customer experience
• Work across all environments from development to production
• Ensure continuous up time of our services to our customers by using best in breed monitoring tools
• Ability to communicate well with others, show initiative and know when to ask for help.

Requirements :

• 2+ years professional experience with Java Spring
• Test driven design experience
• BS or MS in Computer Science or equivalent experience
• Passionate about learning and deep diving into modern tech applications

Preferred Qualifications :

• Experience with Solr/ElasticSearch and Lucene a plus.
• Kafka, Terraform & Python
• AWS Experience - EC2, ASG, Lambda
• Docker/Kubernetes
• Experience working on Linux
• Experience will tooling and monitoring applications
