Micron Technology’s Non-Volatile Engineering group is focused on developing leading-edge memory controller and System-on-Chip (SoC) designs, incorporating advanced HW and FW to enable Micron’s Managed NAND product roadmap. This position could be located in Longmont, CO, San Jose, CA, or Boise, ID.

Responsibilities and Tasks:

In this role, you will work with hardware, firmware and business groups to define next-generation mobile storage solutions. Your new responsibilities will include, but are not limited to the following areas:

  • Understand how all aspects of the SSD/Managed NAND work together including hardware, firmware, NAND, packaging, power, performance, and reliability
  • Develop strong technical relationships with peers, external partners, and key customers to identify key technology trends in a fast-paced competitive landscape
  • Focus on data-driven analysis/modeling to understand risk, predict power and performance and ensure the proposed solution will meet requirements
  • Work with Micron technologists, design engineers, and engineering teams to ensure successful implementation of new product concepts
  • Develop new product/architecture specifications with an emphasis on ASIC/SoC definition
  • Generate new intellectual property and patents
  • Evangelize Micron's new products, technologies, and capabilities; Attend and represent the company at appropriate industry consortia, technical organizations, and technical conferences

Required experience & skillset:

  • Experience in SSD and or HDD architecture
  • Experience in ASIC/SoC, microprocessor and memory architectures
  • Experience in Firmware development and FTL
  • Detailed knowledge of NAND Flash, SSD and/or HDD
    • Storage protocols: eMMC, UFS, SCSI, and NVMe
    • NAND interfaces: ONFI, Toggle, etc
    • NAND Management: Error detection and correction
    • Storage Systems: RAID systems, Blades and Workstations
  • Demonstrated ability to develop a detailed architecture, power and cost estimates from higher-level feature, function and performance requirements
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills
  • Highly organized, self-motivated, and disciplined abilities
  • Ability to work with other engineers across multiple disciplines, as well as customers of various positions
  • Experience working with off-shore teams in a multi-national environment
  • Must be able to travel (both domestic and international)

Education:

  • BS or MS degree in Electrical Engineering/Computer Science or an equivalent required
