What is the opportunity?

As a Senior UI Designer as part of a multi-disciplinary agile team in our Insurance Digital lab, you will lead the translation of high-level user experience requirements into interaction flows and artifacts, and transform them into intuitive and functional user interfaces. You will establish creative solutions and ideas during all project phases, providing expertise in the areas of user interaction, screen design, ensuring that the UI visually communicates what the UX designer has laid out. This role is critical to the success of a solution or product because it contributes to maximizing user/customer adoption and satisfaction, while reducing training and support costs. You would lead and mentor other UI//UX team members.

What will you do?

  • Lead UI team, establish and promote design guidelines, best practices and standards for the Insurance Digital platform, aligning to RBC Enterprise Standards
  • Execute all visual design stages from concept to final hand-off to developers
  • Define the creative vision and obtain consensus of key stakeholders
  • Working with multi-disciplinary agile team to define the features needed to create a great user experience
  • Leading and creating detailed wireframes, visual aids, composites, paper prototypes and other design documents and mapping out end-to-end user interface workflows
  • Leading and creating user interfaces across multiple platforms (e.g. web, mobile), ensuring compliance with the technical architecture and RBC design standards
  • Establish and articulate the vision behind user experiences and interfaces and communicate the resulting design to scrum teams and stakeholders

What do you need to succeed?

Must-have

  • 3+ years of experience in UI Design
  • 3+ years of working with multi member UX/UI design teams on complex User Experience centric initiatives
  • 5+ years of software development / digital industry and other relevant professional experience
  • A diploma or degree (Bachelor’s or Master’s degree, etc.) in Fine Arts, Liberal Arts, Interdisciplinary Design, Media Arts, Computer Science (Human Computer Interaction), Interaction Design, Digital Media or any related field, with relevant experiences
  • Experience with design and prototyping software (Axure, Sketch/InVision)

Nice-to-have

  • Experience working in the Financial/Insurance industry
  • Portfolio to demonstrate the design work done in the past
  • Knowledge in Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG 2.1)
  • Experience with the following software (Illustrator, Photoshop, Figma)
