The Vision Critical Documentation Team is looking for a Senior Technical Writer to create user and administrator documentation, how-to videos, and other types of content. The Senior Technical Writer will also support publishing tools and infrastructure.

What you will be doing:

• Write new and revise existing application documentation
• Create and update product how-to videos
• Work closely with developers, software testers, and product managers to assess documentation needs, and then develop, plan, and produce content
• Test content workflows and concepts in the software
• Pass content through editorial and review processes
• Assist in developing best practice and knowledge base documents as required
• Recommend, implement, and adhere to documentation standards
• Provide technical support for and make changes to publishing tools and infrastructure (CSS, post-publishing scripts, DITA Open Toolkit) as required

Required Skills & Experiences:

• Degree in English, Professional or Technical Writing, Journalism, Computer Science or Engineering, or a related field
• At least 5-7 years of experience writing end-user documentation for software
• Familiarity with XML-based structured authoring standards such as DITA
• Experience with structured authoring software such as XMetaL
• Programming skills: HTML, CSS, DITA OT, JavaScript, and Visual Basic for Applications
• Experience creating how-to videos with software such as Camtasia
• Experience creating visuals and diagrams with software such as Visio, Photoshop, or Illustrator
• Familiarity with software development practices, including lean/agile software development
• Ability to learn new technologies and concepts quickly
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work successfully with developers, quality engineers, and other writers
• Excellent writing ability and the samples to match
• Ability to prioritize issues and communicate priority effectively
• Ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams, but also work independently and self-manage
• Ability to deliver to deadlines, tracking own progress against target
