What You Will Do

If you like an exciting, fast paced, advanced cardiac care then this is the unit for you! Step-down Intermediate Care, sometimes also called Cardiac Short Stay, assists cardiac patients coming out of the ICU or post-surgery for a short period before being discharged. You will need to have excellent understanding of vitals, intake & outtake, charting, and communication skills. We are looking for someone with a bubbly and uplifting personality that gives our patients the very best experience.

In addition to ADL’s you will answer call lights and order supplies for patients and assist in transporting if necessary. As an Associate with Saint Thomas Health Svcs-TN, you will have the opportunity to perform basic clinical and non-clinical patient care activities under supervision in assigned area.

Responsibilities:

• Aids with entry and exit of patients.
• Assists patients with tending to personal care and activities of daily living (ADL’s) such as bathing, feeding, grooming.
• Reports findings or changes in physical, mental and emotional conditions to nursing staff. Documents necessary records.
• Responsible for keeping patient rooms clean and orderly as well as maintaining medical equipment.

What You Will Need

Licenses/Certifications/Registration:

• Required Credential(s):
  • BLS Provider credentialed from the American Heart Association (AHA) or Red Cross obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date. For current incumbents as of 4/30/18, BLS required upon expiration of Heart Saver.

Education:

• Diploma
  • High school diploma or GED required- verified through background checks
