POSITION OVERVIEW

A rapidly expanding, entrepreneurial technology company, Alarm.com, is seeking an ambitious, talented, Lead Embedded Engineer with a B.A., B.S. or M.S in Engineering. The position is ideal for candidates who want to work with technologies such as wide area cell networks (CDMA, 3G-HSPA, 4G-LTE), local mesh networks (ZWave, Zigbee...), smart sensors, and IoT devices for home automation and security applications in an embedded Linux environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The Embedded Linux Engineering Manager’s primary job responsibilities will include:

  • Managing a team of embedded firmware engineers by assigning tasks and providing status updates.
  • Leading team members in technical projects through design and code reviews.
  • Developing, testing, and debugging embedded software in a Linux environment.
  • Coordinating with other departments, such as Quality Engineering, Software Engineering and Product Management to ensure on-time delivery of a fully tested and compatible device that meets product requirements.

REQUIREMENTS

  • 4+ years of experience in Linux, C++, or embedded systems
  • 1-2 years of engineering management experience
  • B.S. Computer Engineering or Computer Science, M.S. is a plus
  • Self-starter. Analytical and tenacious problem solver
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Rigorous attention to detail with focus on robustness, scalability and quality of products
  • Passion for working with technology and excitement for creating high quality consumer technology products

NICE-TO-HAVES

  • Familiarity with networking (cellular, Wi-Fi, Ethernet, Z-Wave, Zigbee).
  • Experience with microcontrollers and sensing technology.
  • Experience with penetration testing and ethical hacking.
  • Experience with Android and Linux kernel development.
