Vision Critical (VC) is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead and develop the Surveys Team, an engineering team focusing on the data collection and surveys components of our CXM SaaS solution. The successful candidate will be an experienced leader and manager with a proven track record of continuous development and delivery of software services safely at scale for a multi team product. With deep knowledge of SaaS platform architecture, you have an innate ability to navigate complex and ambiguous requirements and create simple, elegant and scalable solutions. You are a technology expert, informed of the latest industry trends and able to anticipate and plan for the future. The ideal candidate will also be able to demonstrate strong communication and interpersonal skills that have been used to effect influence across an organization. A self motivator with a strong work ethic and a passion for delivering excellent results you will be able to mentor teams, develop leaders and recruit top talent to accelerate the execution of the product roadmap while maintaining a collaborative and empathetic work culture.
About the Team The Surveys Team is responsible for building new functionalities for our advanced survey platform as well as maintaining the existing capabilities. We are currently working on additional distribution capabilities for our surveys and new methods of gathering feedback powered by machine learning. Our team is responsible for building advanced question types to allow application of novel statistical analysis methods and to ultimately bring more ease to our customers’ decision-making process.
What you will achieve:
- Build, mentor, lead and manage a team of developers
- Strive for operational excellence and elevate engineering/technical capabilities of your team
- Own and drive the execution of the technical vision of the Surveys Team while working with other key stakeholders in Product Management and User Experience
- Provide technical expertise and lead complex overall system architecture and platform design decisions
- Review product design decisions and provide input on various application data layers decisions spanning choice of technology, performance considerations, and schema design
- Optimize existing product workflows to be more efficient and reliable
- Effective collaboration across the organization to accelerate the continuous delivery of value to the customer
- Work in ways to encourage and improve a DevOps culture.
- Grow and introduce improvements to a multi-team multi-technology build/install/test continuous delivery infrastructure with focus on automation.
- Take ownership where necessary to troubleshoot and resolve any tooling issue or help find the appropriate team to do so.
About you:
- Minimum 3 years hands-on experience in managing a team of 6 or more developers
- Demonstrated technical expertise in design, implementation and maintenance of scalable SaaS applications and web service infrastructure
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills
- Willing and able to dive into the code yourself
- Superb communication skills; ability to engage effectively with executive management as well as cross functional teams
- Strong ability to make decisions and forge alignment in ambiguous and changing situations
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related technical discipline, or relevant experience
- 7+ years of software engineering experience
