Sr. Data Applications Engineer

Job Description

Join SpotX as a Senior Data Applications Engineer. SpotX, an RTL Group company, is the leading video advertising platform unifying TV and digital video globally. The Senior Data Applications Engineer is responsible for building data applications from our big data systems to provide internal and external customers access to the data they need. How you'll make an immediate impact:

• Data application development, implementation, and maintenance
• Loading disparate data sets and performing analysis of vast data stores
• Troubleshoot and fix existing application
• Create reporting applications utilizing Big Data platform
• Developing new tools and technologies in the video ad serving space
• Embody a team spirit and participate in a scrum team comprised of 4 to 5 developers
• Participate in daily standup meetings and all meetings of the agile SDLC; planning, estimation, retrospectives, demos, etc.
• Perform additional duties assigned by management

What we're looking for:

• Bachelor's Degree (BA) from four-year college or university, or one to two years of related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Strong experience with Python or Scala (or Java)
• Solid OO programming skills, preferably with Scala or Python
• Linux knowledge and database experience
• Experience running queries or petabytes of data
• Experience building applications using Apache Spark, Apache Kafka, Hadoop, or Hive
