FanDuel Group is an innovative sports-tech entertainment company that is changing the way consumers engage with their favorite sports, teams, and leagues. The premier gaming destination in the United States, FanDuel Group consists of a portfolio of leading brands across gaming, sports betting, daily fantasy sports, advance-deposit wagering, and TV/media, including FanDuel, Betfair US, DRAFT, and TVG. FanDuel Group has a presence across 45 states and 8 million customers. The company is based in New York with offices in California, New Jersey, Florida, Oregon, and Scotland.

About the Role

The goal of the Technical Programs organization is to own the delivery of critical technical programs that improve the state of our stack and the lives of our engineers. We are not simply facilitators. We bring our technical depth to bear, helping to define complex architecture across multiple verticals, leading technical tradeoff discussions, owning the schedule, milestones, and risks for our program, and being the single accountable owner for its successful delivery.

We are seeking a Sr. Technical Program Manager to serve as the single threaded leader responsible for managing work between Legal & Compliance and the Engineering organization. Help us answer the question “is our technology compliant with complex federal and state regulations?” confidently. This person will serve as the gateway into Engineering, identifying contacts and escalation paths and driving out programs that ensure we have appropriate technical controls to remain in compliance with federal and state regulations. Translate complex technical concepts into words that can be easily understood by our legal and compliance partners. Work to translate internal controls into technical controls, defining what it means to be compliant, how we get there, and working with our heads of technology to implement regulatory assurance through automation. Manage the incident response process, driving post mortems and corrective actions with appropriate urgency. Partner with program delivery to ensure the engineering organization meets regulatory standards for new state launches. Serve as an advocate and the SME for regulatory compliance within the engineering organization.

Target Skillsets:

  • Experience as a Technical Program Manager/Technical Product Manager. Strong fundamentals such as communication skills, ability to manage risks and issues, tailoring status to the appropriate audience, and driving cross-functional projects that hit multiple teams inside and outside of the engineering organization.
  • Experience breaking down business requirements into technical controls. Working with our business analyst partners, breakdown and document complex regulations in the form of technical Epics and Stories that can be understood by the Engineering organization.
  • Strong negotiation and communications skills, with demonstrated ability to influence tough decisions. This role will require balancing the needs of our Legal & Regulatory team with what is appropriate for our technical organization.
  • Experience managing incident responses and post-mortems under tight timelines.
  • Ideally, experience working with Legal & Regulatory groups. Be willing to grow into your role and willingness to learn a new space.
  • Good communication skills and high EQ scale. Will be interacting with many different audiences, including regulators, internal business partners up to our c-team, and engineers.

Preferred:

  • Exposure to gaming regulations and regulatory compliance.
  • Strong technology background and ability to understand complex architecture and many moving parts.
  • Background in computer science, engineering, related fields, or relevant practical experience.
  • Willingness to travel, as our engineering organization is split between Edinburgh and NYC.

There's more, but we don't want to go on and on.
