Senior Software Development Engineer- Cambia Consumer Solutions

Portland, OR

Cambia CCS Platform Engineering team is responsible for business and technology tools and integrations that are consumed by different healthcare mobile apps and web-based applications that enable healthcare transparency and consumer-centric healthcare.

We're looking for engineers who bring in fresh ideas from different areas, like distributed computing, scalability and storage, automation, security, data analytics and visualization, UI design and mobile. We need our engineers to be versatile, demonstrate leadership qualities and be eager to tackle new problems across the full-stack as we venture to make healthcare more accessible to all.

As a Software Development Engineer, you will be involved in requirements gathering, design and the development of new features for the platform, evaluating COTS products and making build-vs-buy recommendations, automation, and handling scalability and performance challenges. You will participate in a high-paced agile environment with deep focus on best software practices, cutting edge technologies, innovation and code quality.

Responsibilities & Requirements

Skills and Experience:

• A Bachelor’s degree or higher in computer science or a related field, or equivalent engineering experience
• 4+ years’ experience with AWS or other cloud providers
• 3+ years’ experience with Salesforce Development including APEX, Salesforce DX, and Lightning components
• 3+ years’ experience with the latest web standards, including modern HTML, CSS and JS
• 2+ years’ experience with one or more front-end web frameworks such as React or AngularJS
• 2+ years’ experience working with and/or on restful microservices
• Extensive experience integrating with COTS and external services
• Deep understanding of modern asynchronous programming techniques
• Solid understanding of CI/CD concepts
• Shows a preference for automation whenever feasible
• Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly in a timely manner in both verbal and written communication with other Software Development Engineers
• Broad problem solver with the ability to analyze, diagnose and resolve program and system issues
• A passion for learning new skills
• Ideal candidate may also have experience with:
• Testing frameworks such as Jest or Mocha
• Es6 language features
• Other languages such as Python and Java
• Redux or other state management tools
• Cloud and docker
• IaC tools such as Terraform and CloudFormation
• CI/CD pipelines

Required Qualifications:

• Communicates clearly in a timely manner in both verbal and written communication with other Software Development Engineers and Executives.
• Able to work well with, and potentially lead, groups of business customers and technology partners.
• Able to provide direction to others in analyzing and solving program and system issues and problems.
• Highly technically proficient in core technologies and methodologies used by the team.
• Able to drive and champion rapidly changing technologies and methodologies and apply them to technological and/or business needs of significant scope.
• Able to analyze, diagnose and resolve highly complex programming problems and system coordination issues.
• Able to provide technical direction and solutions to other team members. Recognizes differences of how senior managers think and work. Relays status to management and peers in a timely manner.
• Able to lead large multi-discipline teams (5+) for complex work efforts which includes estimating, coordinating, tracking progress, inspiring others to complete tasks on time, assisting with resolving issues and creating status reports.
• Creates a climate where people want to do their best. Can motivate and empower others on work teams.
• Demonstrated expertise and ability to lead others in Test Driven Development including unit test creation.
• Demonstrated expertise and ability to lead others in defensive programming.
