AIR’s Human Capital Solutions team within Research and Evaluation is seeking an I/O Psychology Research Associate for our Crystal City, VA office to work in the areas of— recruitment, selection, performance management, training, retention, licensure and certification with a particular emphasis on the future of work —and provide our public and private sector clients with unique insight and solutions. Our experts apply research-based principles in developing the knowledge, tools, systems, and programs required for maximizing human and organizational potential in the 21st century.

We are planning to interview candidates at the SIOP 2020 Conference in Austin, TX.

Responsibilities

The I/O Psychology Research Associate will work as part of a research team on one or more projects with responsibilities that may include:

  • Designing and conducting training course or program evaluations
  • Conducting workforce analyses, job analysis, competency modeling, assessment development, validation studies
  • Planning and conducting quantitative analyses
  • Organizing and documenting analytical results and research procedures (e.g., data collection, instrument preparation, and statistical analyses)
  • Preparing technical reports and journal articles
  • Presenting topics to clients and the public
  • Designing and conducting research projects for federal and private sponsors
  • Writing or contributing to competitive proposals for applied social science research
  • Periodic travel may be required

Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in I/O Psychology, plus experience in a behavioral or social science research field (e.g., I/O psychology, sociology, organizational development, human resources)
  • Highly proficient in data management and analysis procedures. Proficient in data analysis programs, such as SPSS, Excel, MPlus, and various IRT programs
  • Strong writing skills, specifically in describing quantitative analyses to technical and non-technical audiences
  • Knowledge of advanced statistical methods, such as psychometrics and hierarchical linear modeling
  • A demonstrated willingness and ability to learn new statistical techniques as they become necessary
  • Experience conducting quality assurance checks on data and analysis output
