Job Description
Position Summary:
Reporting to the Team Lead, Global TSG Cloud Infrastructure, this position is responsible for maintaining our Cloud environments to ensure stable, secure, and scalable environments for our customers. As part of the broader Global TSG Infrastructure Services team, this person will work with teams inside and outside of Bain to provide world-class services in a friendly and supportive manner. This role will be proactive and focused on monitoring systems, troubleshooting problems, and responding to incidents, queries and requests. The fast pace of change in Cloud technologies requires this person to be innately curious, quick to learn, devoted to best practices, and results-driven.
Essential Functions:
Operations:
- Participate in managing day-to-day operations of cloud infrastructure environments, including:
- Problem management and resolution
- Look at reports to identify problems and areas that need improvement
- Manage the ticket queue, assess and triage problems for resolution
- Troubleshoot issues, resolve or escalate as required
- Document issue resolutionsManage system access
- Maintain Operational Excellence:
- Help establish, implement and adhere to the corporate technology standards and guidelines
- Optimize resource usage using Cloud Health and other reports
- Ensure asset management system is complete and accurate
- Document any changes in cloud or system configurations
- Perform on-call duties, system implementations and upgrades that may occur after normal business hours and on weekends as required to minimize business impact
Deployment and Integration:
- Work with business units (internal: Next Gen AAG ADAPT and others, and external developers and vendors) on new deployments, issues and improvements to existing services such as:
- Assist development teams with integrations (SSO) and identity enablement for SaaS or custom products
- Deploy IaaS and PaaS infrastructure in AWS, Azure or GCP using Terraform, Ansible or other Infrastructure-as-Code tooling
Reporting:
- Benchmark, analyze and report on and/or make recommendations for the improvement of cloud environments
- Run and review daily reports to identify and rectify problems as required
- Generate reports to optimize cloud resources to reduce cost and overhead
- Audit cloud accounts for security issues using existing tools
- Assign costs and chargebacks as appropriate
Process Improvements:
- Assist team in developing and or improving the automation of tasks and infrastructure using established scripting tools and capabilities
- Improve existing documentation and document new processes and systems]
- Other duties as assigned or as responsibilities dictate
Qualifications:
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree with demonstrated interest in technology, technology issues and analytical analysis required
- Vendor Certifications a plus: AWS, MCSE preferred
Experience:
- Minimum 2-4 years of experience with Windows and Linux Operating Systems required
- Minimum 1 year experience provisioning, operating, and maintaining systems running on a public cloud provider required
- Experience with infrastructure and application monitoring tools such as DataDog, LogicMonitor and New Relic preferredExperience with service management and incident response systems such as Service Now and PagerDuty preferred
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Understanding of a scripting language (PowerShell, Bash, Python), configuration management tool (Ansible, Puppet, Chef) and/or Infrastructure-As-Code tools (Terraform, Ansible);
- Track record of applying automation to all aspects of technical operations
- Excellent written and spoken communication skills: ability to communicate at all levels of the entire organization
- High performance and standards as demonstrated by academic or previous job experience
- Excellent analytical, conceptual, and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to work in a fast paced, dynamic environment
- Ability to identify and enforce AWS, Azure and GCP best practices
- Understanding of Agile and DevOps is strongly desired
