The Unemployment Claims Specialist is working day to day to support our clients and the needs of the Operations organization. This role is a key driver of organizational performance and the provision of services to our clients. This professional must have a friendly, outgoing personality and enjoy working with many different people during the course of the day.

Responsibilities

  • Developing an understanding of the unemployment insurance system, including how the system is administered in multiple states, and understanding who qualifies for unemployment insurance.
  • Receiving and responding to unemployment claims & decisions by the state mandated deadline.
  • Reaching out to client contacts, and working with them to gather detailed separation information on a timely basis.
  • Reach out to clients within 24hr turnaround time of receipt on claims and 48hr turnaround time of receipt of decisions.
  • Follow up with clients when no response received
  • Charge exception handling
  • Responsible for checking email and keeping in box organized. All new messages must be checked before leaving for the day.
  • Responsible for checking voicemail and returning calls no later than 24hrs of receipt.
  • Participate in Claim department training and meetings.
  • Update and maintain client instructions in Edgewise.
  • Complete and thorough note taking in EdgeWise. Using the grading feature in EdgeWise.
  • Maintaining the integrity of Edgewise with data entry accuracy.
  • Communicating non-response issues to management timely and working with management for resolution.
  • Tracking trends on client issues to determine educational or operational improvements and working with Client Service Director to obtain results.
  • Offer work smarter ideas to improve productivity and efficiency
  • Meet company productivity guidelines by protesting 7000-10,000 claims per year with a 30-45% protestable rate.
  • Follow all department procedures

Qualifications

  • Possession of good writing skills & communication skills necessary to articulate the reason for separation in an unemployment claim protest to be written and submitted to state workforce agencies.
  • An ability to manage multiple deadlines and organize your workflow to ensure all notices are responded to by the deadline.
  • Being a part of a team atmosphere, and being willing to help out other team members as the volume of work changes among our customers.
  • Other duties as assigned
