Data Science, Machine Learning, Ideation & Research Intern at Equifax Data Science Lab

Qualified candidates will have an undergraduate or higher degree in Computer Science or a closely related field with course work in algorithms, data structures, database systems and a skilled programmer. The ideal candidate will combine the skills to create new prototypes with the creativity and thoroughness to ask and answer the deepest questions about the data, and to push the boundaries of what is possible with big data analytics/modeling.

Responsibilities:

  • Research innovative data solutions using AI/Machine Learning and other techniques to solve real market problems.
  • Mine Big Data and other unstructured data to tap untouched data sources and deliver insight into new and emerging solutions
  • Partner in development of scalable solutions using large datasets with other data scientists on the team
  • Integrate diverse data sources, data types and data structures into solutions
  • Work with key stakeholders and understand their needs to develop advanced solutions or improve existing solutions around data and analytics.

Qualifications:

  • Graduate student with a Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science or a closely related field with 3-5 years of programming experience.
  • Graduation date before or on December 2021
  • Expertise in Python or Scala a strong plus
  • Strong SQL skills (in Big Data environment - Hive, Impala etc. is a plus)
  • Formal coursework and/or familiarity with AI/Machine Learning is a very strong plus.
  • Experience working with very large datasets, knowledge of distributed computing tools (Spark, MapReduce, Hive, Apache Mahout etc.) a plus
  • Agile development including Scrum and other lean techniques is a plus.
  • Excellent problem solving skills with the ability to design algorithms, which may include data cleaning, data mining, data clustering and pattern recognition methodologies
  • Personal qualities desired: creativity, tenacity, curiosity, and passion for deep technical excellence.
