    Seattle Translational Tumor Research (STTR) creates environments which enable researchers and clinicians to accelerate scientific discovery and translate it into cures for patients; and has established programs addressing 15 cancer types: bladder, brain, breast, colorectal, leukemia, liver, lymphoma, myelodysplastic/myeloproliferative disease, myeloma, ovary, pancreas, prostate, sarcoma, skin/cutaneous oncology, and thoracic/head & neck.


    STTR has three key objectives which support this mission of Fred Hutch and the STTR program:

    • Build seamless infrastructure to optimize and speed translational and precision medicine research
    • Strengthen tumor-specific translational research programs across liquid and solid tumors
    • Strengthen partnerships between Seattle-area translational research institutions

    Responsibilities

    This role supports STTR in programmatic strategy and infrastructure development. This position will build relationships with clinical and research faculty across specific STTR programs to build collaborations, support program development and improve operational capability of the programs. In addition, this role provides project management support for a variety of program-specific and cross institutional projects. This position will manage a variety of complex projects and assignments under moderate supervision with some latitude for independent judgement and decision making. Responsibilities include:

    • Support STTR cross-institutional cancer programs in operations and strategy. This may include, but is not limited to, supporting the development of project/study policies and procedures. Administer policies and procedures according to protocol, IRB, grant/contract and Center specifications.
    • Serve as a point of contact representing STTR to other departments, individuals, and outside organizations, including staff and faculty at Fred Hutch, the University of Washington Medical Center, and Seattle Children’s
    • Support multiple projects in varied environments with frequently competing deadlines and changing priorities
    • Collect and summarize programmatic metrics tracking grants, publications, clinical trials, and accomplishments. Create SWOT analyses to support development of ongoing program-specific strategy.
    • Oversee interns by structuring their workload, developing internship goals and managing their progress
    • Event coordination support for research meetings, community events and retreats, including event logistics, agenda development, and advertising the event across member institutions
    • Facilitate STTR granting program including application design, soliciting applications, managing competitive peer review process as well as requesting progress reports of funded proposals
    • Produce special and recurring reports
    • Perform other responsibilities as required

    Qualifications

    Minimum qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s degree in related field required
    • Minimum of 3-6 years of directly related experience to the healthcare or research field
    • Strong analytical abilities and problem-solving skills
    • Experience managing multiple projects from inception through closure
    • Problem-solver and ability to jump in and help as needed
    • Flexibility and adaptability
    • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced, complex environment
    • Strong communications skills
    • Solid integrity


    Preferred qualifications:

    • Master’s degree in related field such as public health, health administration, biology, or research administration
    • Ability to take initiative and use sound and independent judgment in carrying out responsibilities and managing shifting priorities.
    • Outstanding interpersonal skills
    • Ability to think critically, work independently, and act as a team member
    • Positive attitude and sense of humor
    • Basic knowledge of clinical and research terminology
