Job Description

In this role, you have the opportunity to ensure Philips solutions are usable by the intended user and meet international usability standards. You will lead the creation of usability evaluation plans, conduct and coordinate usability testing activities, apply best practices and heuristics to improve usability and accessibility, and ensure usability practices meet applicable quality and safety standards for the Ultrasound business.

You are responsible for

  • Research planning: Plan and organize research activities in co-operation with stakeholders such as product managers, project managers and end-users. Set measurable goals and specifications to understand needs and evaluate propositions, mock-ups, interaction designs and products with end-users (e.g. transcribing evaluation results, interpretation of test results and documentation of the test results).
  • Usability testing and engineering support: Conduct user testing and/or expert reviews (e.g. cognitive walkthroughs) for the evaluation of Philips products using established usability engineering practices. Conduct usability requirement analysis, domain/tasks analysis to elicit user needs, provide consultancy on human factors, and provide consultancy on standards on usability from medical device regulations, such as FDA, AAMI and IEC
  • Communicate insights: Create and present documentation of research insights, using appropriate visuals to communicate relevant concepts and frameworks. Involve a broader team in understanding research insights and defining the impact of research outcomes aligned with overall program goals.
  • Technical: Identification of opportunities and constraints inherent in technology and platform decisions and ability to illuminate the impact of technology choices on user experience and product quality, including usability impacts.

You are a part of

The Philips global creative force of some 400+ professionals is located in our Design studios in Europe, North America and Asia. You will be part of an amazing cross-disciplinary team that includes product design, interaction design, service design, people research, communication design, and project management.

To succeed in this role, you should have the following skills and experience

  • You have a Bachelor or Master degree in design research, design strategy, interaction design, usability, human factors, or human-computer interaction
  • You have a minimum of 3 years relevant experience in design research or usability
  • You are recognized for your expertise and talent in design research as well as for your specific competency, knowledge and capability.
  • Experience in both enterprise and consumer software with experience working within an agile development approach.
  • Strong analytical, creative and visual craft skills
  • Working knowledge of mobile and web technologies and prototyping tools
  • Experience working within agile software development processes
  • Collaborative team player
  • Self-motivated, pro-active thinker
