Your Opportunity
Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) effectively identifies, measures, and manages risk across all subsidiaries and affiliates to support Schwab’s strategic and business objectives.
The ERM Service and Advisory (ESA) team within ERM manages several risk management processes for the firm, including the Risk and Control Self-Assessment (RCSA) program, quarterly Risk Reporting, and Data Governance programs for ERM and the firm.
Reporting to the Managing Director of ESA, this role will perform various duties in support of ERM’s various programs. In addition, this individual will lead a team that partners with business data subject matter experts and IT leads to design, develop and execute data management practices that fulfill data governance standards and promote the quality of risk data through all channels from source systems to data aggregation processes to published dashboards and reports.

The ESA Managing Director will have the opportunity to work closely with members of ERM team as they execute key functions that includes engaging business partners and oversight groups with help and guidance in fulfilling their responsibilities with emphasis placed on risk reporting, and data governance.
You will have the following key responsibilities:
- Manage a team of 3-5 resources covering both BAU work as well as project work
- Manage multiple projects, including managing stakeholders, budget and outcomes
- Working with business partners and subject matter experts,
- Lead an organized approach to discover and document data and data sources; write, edit, and capture metadata including business terms, definitions, and lineage; and import that information into the data governance tools (Collibra, IBM IGC, Oracle EDQ, and SharePoint)
- Perform data analysis, data discovery and data profiling using industry standard querying tools to support to gain insight into data and its quality and support development of the data quality program
- Organize, present, and discuss results with appropriate business stakeholders to determine appropriate actions such as data remediation, data quality rules/checks, data quality thresholds, and data architecture or application changes
- Develop and maintain accurate documentation of production data quality monitoring processes and results, and procedures for resolving data errors/anomalies
- Analyze risk information that will be reported to risk management committees and the Board for completeness and accuracy
- Work on department initiatives to mature various aspects of the Data Governance program
- Work on ad-hoc analysis and/or reporting assignments related to Aggregate ERM reporting as requested by business partners, oversight groups or regulators
What you have
Your skillsets should include:
- Minimum 10+ years of experience in audit, enterprise risk management, data governance, risk reporting or similar role
- Experience working with an enterprise level Chief Data Office or Data Governance Office (CDO or DGO)
- Experiences participating in a formal data governance effort
- Understanding of and experiences with data governance tools, documents, and artifacts (e.g. those related to data quality, data lineage documents/tools, metadata)
- Experiences involving data governance efforts with CDEs (critical data elements) would be preferred
- Heavy Business Analyst type skills in gathering and presenting information. Proficiency in data analytics, preferably in risk and control data analysis, in particular, the ability to incorporate and understand mass information from a variety of sources to recommend a course of action
- Experiences involving data governance efforts with CDEs (critical data elements) would be preferred
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for data analytics as well as data visualization tools like Tableau; IBM OpenPages experience a plus.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Good independent judgement with strong analytical skills
- Self-starter with strong organizational/time management skills
- Ability to manage multiple assignments all at one time
