Gusto is looking for someone passionate about user research to join our team as a Summer 2020 intern in San Francisco. As a user research intern, you'll work and learn alongside user researchers, design team members, engineers and product managers, and apply your research skills to real world problems.

Here's what you'll do day-to-day:

• You’ll be embedded directly in the centralized research team, working in collaboration with stakeholders across disciplines
• Take ownership of your own projects; communicate, present, & share work in progress
• Practice and model ways to apply UX research methods in a business setting
• Make a real impact on Gusto products

Here's what we're looking for:

• Graduating in 2020 or 2021 with a Master’s or PhD in the area of Social Sciences, Human Computer Interaction, Design, or other related field
• Has prior professional work experience in a business setting (another internship counts!)
• Must be available for a 10 - 12 week paid internship commitment
  
• Demonstrates strong critical thinking skills and experience with research methods, through past research projects
• Strong communication and project management skills
• Self-motivated, self-directing, able to navigate ambiguous research topics, and able to balance great research with meeting short deadlines
• Passion for Gusto’s mission and the impact we can have on the world
• Genuine empathy for small business owners and employees and a deep desire to improve their lives
