RBC Bank is hiring a User Interface Designer to create easy-to-use, intuitive and elegant digital experiences for the products and services used by bank clients. You will have the opportunity to work on all phases of the solutions we’re building, leveraging Design Thinking principles, methods and techniques to solve our users’ problems. You will partner with our product management team and business stakeholders to conceptualize and bring to life product ideas. You will play a central role on the design and build team to ensure we get to market efficiency with products and services that have been thoroughly tested.

We’re looking for someone that can instinctively define an ideal customer journey then visually bring it to life. It’s a task that’ll be made easier by collaborating with a top-notch team of product owners, developers, and stakeholders following a shared vision.

What will you do?

• Shape the look and feel of RBC Bank digital experiences, ensuring consistency and simplicity
• Participate in design research, usability testing, and information mapping activities
• Evaluate user feedback
• Research, evaluate, and recommend best practices and new tools for executing high-quality design assets
• Be well versed and provide guidance on user interface design trends
• Collaborate with relevant stakeholders to determine project design specifications
• Work with product owners and team members to define the features needed to create a great user experience
• Create detailed wireframes, high-res comps, prototypes and other design documents and assets to define and bring to life complete digital experiences
• Design for multiple platforms and channels (e.g. web, mobile web, native mobile), ensuring compliance with the technical architecture and RBC design standards
• Participate in testing to verify that business objectives and user requirements have been met, and the design is optimal
• Articulate the vision behind user experience design solutions to team members, peers and executive-level stakeholders
• Act as a UI evangelist across the team and organization

What do you need to succeed?

Must-have:

• Bachelor’s degree in Visual Design, Interdisciplinary Design, Interaction Design or any related field, with relevant experiences and portfolios
• 3-5 years of experience working in digital on creative teams
• Expert knowledge of and experience with design tools including InVision, Figma, Sketch, and Adobe Creative Suite
• Expert understanding of core design principles rated to typography, grid systems, visual hierarchy, color systems, white space, etc.
• Understanding of CSS, HTML, web standards, native app development standards, and working with development teams in order to translate creative concepts into actual user-friendly products and services
• Understanding and experience working in Lean UX and Agile environments
• Fluent in communicating conceptual ideas and design rationale
• An exceptional eye for detail and passion for quality

Nice-to-have:

• Master’s degree in Design, Computer Science (Human Computer Interaction), Marketing, Business or any field that demonstrates breadth and depth across design and business strategy
• Experience and success working in corporate environments
• Experience with financial services
