Role Summary:
The Lead Engineer External Configurations is responsible for the design and development of external tubing, manifolds, bracketry, hoses and harness routing. In the role of Lead Engineer External Configurations, you will utilize your experience or expertise to lead teams to solve problems, develop and execute objectives for self and others, and impact short-term and some long-term business goals.
Essential Responsibilities:
In addition, as the Lead Engineer External Configurations, you will:
- Execute the design, analysis, or evaluation of assigned projects using sound engineering principles and adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and product / program requirements
- The responsibilities of the position include design, analysis, manufacturing support, assembly / test support, and overall project management
- Provide technical leadership to personnel supporting the assigned project
- Implement plans with guidance to meet technical requirements of assigned components and systems and coordinate required resources across the organization
- Document technical data generated by the assigned project consistent with engineering policies and procedures
- Monitor and provide timely communication on project status, business issues and significant developments
- Participate on teams assigned to address organizational initiatives and generic issues
- Participate as a presenter or reviewer in technical and program reviews
- Assure proper documentation of technical data generated for the assigned projects and/or tasks consistent with engineering policies and procedures
Qualifications/Requirements:
- Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, or Computer Science from an accredited university or college (Or a high school diploma / GED with a minimum of 4 years of IT, engineering, scientific or other technical experience)
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in an engineering position

- Proficiency with design tools including Unigraphics (or other solid modeling package), ANSYS or ANSYS Workbench
- Experience conducting / leading structural analyses, high cycle fatigue analyses, modal analyses, harmonic analyses, or acoustic analyses
- Ability to independently lead / execute engineering design projects
- Successful execution of simultaneous technical, cost and schedule responsibilities
- Ability to execute engineering projects in a matrix organization
- Mechanical design experience with tubes / ducts / manifolds / hoses or fluid systems
- Experience communicating with internal / external customers
- Ability to leverage expertise to resolve problems in the field or during the manufacturing processes
- Demonstrated track record within the configurations discipline
