Concrete Estimator

This role is responsible for the development of conceptual estimates through unitized pricing and contract cost estimating. You must be able to provide and coordinate full estimating take-offs, services on large, complex projects. You will focus on pre-construction services and negotiated projects. The ability to work both a team and individual environment is a must. The Concrete Estimator will need to have a thorough understanding of foundations, shoring, podium decks, hillside projects, multi-level concrete projects, etc.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Prepare schedules and sequencing.
  • Work closely with Supply Chain manager on sourcing materials, pricing, and market trends
  • Prepares work to be estimated by gathering proposals, blueprints, specifications, and related documents.
  • Full knowledge of concrete & concrete construction industry
  • Download and convert bid documents
  • Identify labor, material, and time requirements by studying vendor proposals, blueprints, specifications, and related documents.
  • Compute costs by analyzing labor, material, and time requirements.
  • Resolve discrepancies by collecting and analyzing information.
  • Present prepared estimate by assembling and displaying numerical and descriptive information.
  • Prepare special reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
  • Maintain cost database by entering and backing up data.
  • Maintain technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing technical publications.
  • Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Minimum 5 years of experience with bidding projects for the commercial, parking structures and multi-family concrete construction projects.
  • Competent in performing complete and accurate project take offs including concrete, forms, reinforcing, crews, equipment, and accessories.
  • Ability to prepare conceptual budgets based on minimal information and specifications
  • Ability to professionally communicate project needs to assigned staff in a fast-paced environment
  • Proven ability to multi-task in a high volume, fast-paced work environment
  • Self-driven, reliable and able to work independently
  • Curious with a desire to learn and grow
  • Positive and professional attitude, and strong customer relations skills
  • Strong team work and collaboration with peers and leaders
  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity, learning and successfully working in multicultural environments

Preferred Skills & Experience

  • Preferred computer systems experience in Revit, Assemble, Heavy bid, Bluebeam, On Screen Takeoff
  • Proficiency with industry practices, processes, and standards. Knowledge of applicable building codes, zoning ordinances, OSHA requirements and other legal restrictions
  • Highly motivated individual with aspirations for career growth.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and initiative to execute on self-guided, special initiative projects.
  • Drive towards results, proactively identify risks and escalate effectively.
  • Strong verbal, written and graphic communication skills and can Effectively work and communicate across large cross-functional teams.
  • Excellent problem solver, and communicator.
  • Flexibility to evolve with various tasks and directions as new projects and initiatives unfold.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast paced, demanding, dynamic work-environment.
  • Detail oriented personality with strong organizational skills.
