Job Description

SAMPLE TWEETS BELOW MUST BE COMPLETED FOR CONSIDERATION.

The Houston Astros are looking to add a creative writer and Tweeter to join our Social Media team on a part-time basis. Candidates must have a deep and detailed knowledge of baseball and the Houston Astros, and a keen editorial sense. Experience with Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and Snapchat is required. A strong handle of grammar, punctuation, syntax and Twitter voice is required. Attention to detail is a must. If you are an independent thinker with a love of the game, this could be a great job for you. Photoshop and Adobe Premier Pro experience is a plus.

This is a part-time, seasonal position offering 32 to 40 hours per week. Specifically, you would be required to provide in-game social content during games to supplement and enhance the Astros’ daily efforts. Candidates are required to be flexible. Primary work hours are when the games are being played, meaning days, nights and weekends. The plan is for you to work as many games as you possibly can, whether the team is at home or on the road. Shifts last from two hours or so before first pitch until 45-90 minutes after the final out.

Please send along your resume, Twitter handle, blog(s) and any writing samples (short or long-form) you think best reflect your style.

Below are some sample tweet topics. Compose each as if you’re tweeting from the Astros team account. Assume each topic occurs in real time; could also include link to highlight video, Astros.com article, Gameday, Shop page, or nothing at all. Feel free to include any ideas you have for images/GIFs/graphics. Please include this in your cover letter.
