Role & Responsibilities :

The role will be required travel to European destinations, on occasion for extended periods to work as an integrated member of an international engineering product and system development team.

Initially the role will be located in France (Gennevilliers) for a period of 10-12 months before relocating to the UAE on a permanent basis.

The SE WPM will act as the focal point within the regional engineering organisation, representing all technical and resourcing matters relating to the assigned project within the region.

He/she will Lead and represent the local systems engineering development within the BL monthly project technical review forums.

Ensures competence management for the project to guarantee the best level of engineering discipline competitiveness & maturity whilst managing the engineering resources assigned to the project in addition to any acquisition strategies for the project.

Analyses and communicates opportunities for synergies, best practice and lessons learned within the product development team in order to optimize cost and efficiency of the overall technical solution.

Responsible for providing early warning notifications and engineering quality alerts for the project and engineering management hierarchy in terms of technical or engineering risks & issues and will develop strategies for mitigation.

The SE WPM will be responsible to define the project specific system development cycle and define the process, practices and tools applicable to the product / project based on the BL / Domain reference systems and tailors these based on project specific constraints.

Optimises technical work by organising system engineering reviews and participating in reviews of lower level product solution elements from design to validation and acceptance.

Track competitiveness KPI’s and perform root cause analysis of problems and implement associated corrective action plans.

WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

The Systems Engineering Work Package Manager is expected to demonstrate a high level of soft skills and strong project and people leadership in an engineering context. In particular, the SE WPM is expected to rely on a strong “Complex Solution” competency which includes a supplier management requirement and a significant hardware and software IVVQ element.

The SE WPM requires a good knowledge and experience of the project’s Domain and industry, its solutions architectures and associated engineering practices and has demonstrable experience of:

  • Reconciliation among various stakeholders (co-engineering)
  • Understanding and influencing needs (Concept & requirements)
  • Driving Technical decisions (in particular when impacting
    Architecture orDesign)
  • Planning and managing the development (development strategy, estimate, risk, schedule...)

QUALIFICATION, CERTIFICATION & EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS :

Qualified to bachelor degree standard or equivalent experience in a complex radio systems integration environment

Demonstrable experience in the field of radio product/system development including field deployment, verification, validation and qualification of radio systems in a defence environment.

Must have high fluency in spoken and written English & French (Arabic would be also be preferred) with the capability to take up residency in France for extended periods when required during the project development and deployment phases.

PREFERRED SKILLS / EXPERIENCE :

The role requires significant client and supplier facing interaction in a technical context and the candidate must have demonstrated experience in this environment.

A thorough understanding of Radio technologies and an understanding of the development of products within a project environment will be required.

Demonstrable experience in managing technical teams delivering complex system deployments in the Defence Domain.
