Job Description

Mission

As Legal Counsel, you will join the rapidly growing legal team supporting the business activities of Databricks, working on diverse matters including the development of our global business across multiple jurisdictions, together with commercial contracts, partnering agreements, disputes, and issues relating to employment, security, and privacy.

The ideal candidate is agile, highly organized and has the skills, drive and flexibility to support a leading technology company that is changing the world, facing cutting-edge legal issues and organizational challenges on multiple fronts.

Outcomes

• Draft and negotiate complex, non-standard SaaS agreements, partnering, and other commercial contracts
• Support and advise sales teams on deal process and contract management
• Apply understanding of our product, data security and privacy risk matters to address issues with potential customers during negotiation, and in many other contexts
• Contribute as a team player to help further the standing of the legal department as an effective, respected, and valued resource within the Company
• Quickly get up to speed on Databricks’ product offerings, technology, security/data protection systems and policies, and standard commercial agreements, to give you a foundation for providing effective legal support throughout Databricks lines of business
• Immediately become an effective provider of legal support on all commercial matters

Competencies

• Minimum 4 to 7 years relevant legal experience at a top law firm and/or in-house (a combination of both is a plus)
• Some understanding of cloud and software technology, and a strong desire to work on legal issues in these areas
• Graduate of a top-tier law school
• California bar membership required
• Minimum 2 years focused experience in relevant legal areas
• Solid knowledge of commercial, contract, intellectual property and data privacy law
• Ability to prioritize and manage time, and client expectations, in the face of competing demands
• Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
• Strong desire to be part of a dynamic in-house legal team supporting the recognized leader in processing big data in the cloud
