Job Description

Celgene, a wholly owned subsidiary of Bristol-Myers Squibb, is looking for a Cell Therapy Operations Manager. Under the supervision of the Marketing Director / Cell Therapy Operations Lead , you will be responsible for field-based operational on-boarding of identified Cellular Therapy sites and responsible for the recruitment and management of the Cell Therapy Business Managers. This will involve contribution to developing site plans, site liaison prior to on-boarding, and facilitating contract development for delivering Celgene’s Cell therapies.

You perform your activities in the respect of UK and Ireland regulations and compliance guidelines.

The Cell Therapy Operations Manager will work in close collaboration with the cross-functional Cell Therapy team, involving partnerships with the Cell Therapy Senior Project Manager, Medical, NHS Strategy and commissioning, patient operations and other relevant departments to develop cohesive plans for Cell Therapy site on-boarding. You will be responsible for ensuring effective operational delivery of Celgene’s Cell therapies. Further to Cellular Therapy site on-boarding, this role will develop into a leadership role for the Cell Therapy Business Managers.

As the field coordinator of complex activities, You will have exceptional project management and collaboration skills and the ability to create a cohesive team approach with a winning mindset. You will ideally have experience of project management within an NHS environment or experience of service re-design and experience within haematology and oncology, or specialist brands. Experience in team or people management is essential

Role and Responsibilities:

  • Work in partnership with the Cell Therapy Senior Project Manager, to develop and implement operational initiatives to enable to effective delivery of Cell therapies to treatment centres in the UK & Ireland
  • Further develop site profiling and appropriate CRM / Project Management tools
  • Liaise closely with Cell Therapy Operations Lead, Cell Therapy Senior Project Manager, NHS Strategy and commissioning teams, and relevant legal teams to facilitate the development of contractual agreements and process
  • Lead organised and efficient Cellular Therapy site qualification:
    • Engage accounts and evaluate qualification needs
    • Work in partnership with the cross functional Cell Therapy team to ensure delivery of external training to appropriate personnel (Cell Therapy care management teams) and quality management plans, SOPs & chain of identity processes are in place & verified.
    • Lead contracting process during qualification (incl. Master Services Agreement (with or without apheresis agreement for quality), trade policy, Cell Therapy policies, ordering
    • RMP planning: Work with medical team to ensure RMP plan for account is delivered and drive operational component of training; coordinate with Cell Therapy Medical Manager to ensure product specific RMP training is delivered
  • Working in close partnership with the Cell Therapy Medical Manager and Patient operations, serve as main field-based point-of-contact for Cell Therapy operational related enquiries and serve as conduit to relevant team members, as needed, up to the point of appointment of Cell Therapy Business Managers (Key Account Managers)
  • Develop the recruitment plan, together with the Cell Therapy affiliate lead, for the Cell Therapy Business Managers. Including refining the job descriptions, roles and accountabilities, phasing recruitment in line with product launch timings, and developing onboarding plans, goals and the development of the Business Manager team
  • Define account qualification plan; update internal/external stakeholders on progress with project timeline
  • Coordinate account stakeholders (e.g., clinical staff, supply and distribution, purchasing, operations, department decision makers, apheresis operations manager etc.) in cross-functional approach
  • Monitor progress and alert stakeholders as required (e.g., delayed progress, issues on site); apply judgement and develop plans to resolve issues to minimise delays
  • Develop and maintain excellent thought leader relationships in conjunction with broader franchise team
  • Develop subject matter expertise in cell therapies & participate in initiative and continued process improvement surrounding the delivery of Cell therapies
  • Contribute to development & delivery of Cell Therapy operational training to internal colleagues
  • Provision of Cell Therapy operational implementation insight to relevant Celgene colleagues
  • Contribute & provide input to the Cell Therapy operational plans and the development of strategic and operational plans
  • Contribute to development of the Cell Therapy Operating model in the pre-launch period
  • Understand & inform Celgene on hematology trends, Celgene's customers, regional market dynamics, & competitor strategies
  • Communicate feedback from site qualification to Cell Therapy leadership to refine strategy

Skills and Knowledge Requirements:

  • Undergraduate degree in life sciences or business / management required.
  • Experienced team / people manager and leader, ideally with experience of building a new team from scratch
  • Advanced Project Management skills / experience of service redesign; proven experience of project managing large-scale, complex projects
  • Working knowledge of Haematology / Oncology
  • Strong NHS knowledge, ideally experience within or working with NHS in project delivery
  • Detail orientated with excellent organisation & planning skills
  • Team player: Able to build strong networks and partnerships
  • Able to operate in a changing / Fast Moving environment
  • Leadership & problem-solving skills
  • Commercial acumen
  • IT proficient
