We are currently seeking a “content-first” SEO Manager to join our Digital Experience Team. This position is client-facing and requires consulting, marketing, and analytical skills, as well as a proven track record working within a team environment and across multiple departments and disciplines. The Manager will be responsible for proactively and collaboratively strategizing and executing on deliverables to develop and implement SEO strategies that support content-first digital transformation programs primarily related to large CMS implementations. This role may also support other campaign channel initiatives instituted by managers across our delivery team on defined digital experience strategies for clients in an agency setting.
The SEO Manager will work with a distributed and cross-disciplined team to ideate, coordinate, and create new SEO strategies for our clients to drive content marketing initiatives with impactful results. Experience in content-focused optimization, technical SEO expertise, and management of campaigns across various industries and verticals (typically B2B) will ensure long-term success of client experience site development and marketing campaigns.
The Manager will have the opportunity to contribute to overarching omnichannel campaign execution in alignment with other marketing channels within the Digital Experience group including, but not limited to, brand strategy, content strategy, copywriting/editing, paid search and social, media buys, marketing analytics, and more. This role will interface directly with UX/UI and creative teams, developers, campaign delivery teams, and be client-facing. This position will also have the opportunity for future growth of the practice and may serve as a career advocate of direct reports.
This role may be required to travel 10-15% of the time. Travel may include international travel, specifically Japan or Europe.
Skills & Responsibilities
• Primary responsible for analyzing and developing customized SEO initiatives to support campaign strategy of B2B and B2C clients across multiple platforms
• Analyzing current state and applying those learning toward developing directional SEO strategy in conjunction with other research, brand strategy, content strategy, and development strategy work tracks
• Recognizing performance relation of organic search initiatives to other content marketing, paid search and paid social campaigns, and speaking to those metrics with client stakeholders with varying levels of expertise and backgrounds
• Building out workflows, RACIs, and QA rubrics for executing on those strategies
• Responsible for ensuring the quality and integrity of work produced for clients
• Effectively uses agency tools to aid in SEO campaign development and success
• Working with senior campaign team members to maintain awareness of new marketing platforms and techniques, as well as proactively looking for opportunities to innovate and develop new techniques
• Work within and help define content strong SEO processes and deliverables across planning, creating, delivering, governing functions of the SEO practice as it relates to content marketing and site migration/CMS implementations
• Ability to gather key business and user insights, and apply strategic planning skills to create and communicate an inspired long-term vision for our clients
• Ability to work within, produce, or manage campaign execution calendars to ensure timely publication of marketing content
• Ability to compellingly tie SEO strategy to larger content strategies and communicate a brand’s story through competitive analysis and search experience
• Ability to optimize how content will be presented or distributed in formats beyond website text-based copy, such as voice search, infographics, pdf downloads, video, and multimedia presentations
• Ability to proactively analyze campaign data and strategize opportunities to tell a story and provide data-driven performance analysis
• Develop agency points of view on industry trends in search experience strategy for internal team, company-wide, and external client communication opportunities for submission to clients
• Willingness to serve as a client facing subject matter expert (both in client phone conferences with other campaign team members and in onsite client meetings)
• Ability to handle multiple projects and prioritize responsibilities, proactively organize daily tasks, and prepare list of to-dos’
• Keen problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities
• Enthusiasm for the future of content marketing and brand advertising on the web and passion for reaching new heights
• 3-4 years of experience working on search marketing initiatives, preferably in an agency setting
• Proven ability to work in a large, complex matrixed organization with distributed and remote teams, within successful workflows linking multiple departments allowing for a seamless presentation to clients
• Strong understanding of on-page and off-page SEO and how they affect site rankings and traffic
• Experience developing and executing on successful SEO campaigns
• Experience with SEO tools such as Moz, Ahrefs, Majestic, Screaming Frog, etc. and maintains a curious and self-start attitude, willing to learn and explore additional tools
• Experience using Google Analytics and Search Console
• Experienced in developing and delivering presentations for professional client communication (both written and verbal) and serving as a client facing campaign resource in support of senior media team members
• Ability to identify gaps in content related to search experience and recommend new topics and contribute to ad copy and other copywriting/editing projects
• Firm understanding of user experience and strong search engine marketing (SEM) skills preferred
• Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent industry experience) from an accredited college or university in Marketing, Communications, or similar field preferred but not required
• Demonstrate ambition by keeping abreast of industry trends through mediums such as trade news, industry workshops, seminars, and tracking current events
• Well versed in the Microsoft Office suite, especially Excel and PowerPoint
• Experience using social media for business preferred
