Lead Software Development Engineer in Test

Forensic Analytics is a fast-growth practice within Deloitte Risk and Financial Advisory that centers around several of the hottest areas of business today – analytics, forensic analysis, and litigation support – and the specialized skills that make careers in these areas both fascinating and in high-demand. Our Analytics team makes extensive use of data, statistical and quantitative analysis, rules-based methods, and explanatory and predictive modeling to bring insights to client issues in the forensic and transaction domains. We work with specialists in many areas, and we apply our solutions to a wide range of highly interesting and complex corporate challenges, such as forensic investigations, sales fraud, anti-corruption compliance, restructuring, safety and quality, enterprise fraud and misuse management to explain what has occurred in the past and to support informed decision making for the future. Our work increasingly employs specialized competencies, such as advanced analytics, visualization, and geospatial techniques.

Work you’ll do
The Deloitte Managed Services & Products practice launched a new service in the forensics space to detect fraud, waste, and abuse in various industries. The Anti-Fraud Waste and Abuse solution ("AFES") continues to increase the capacity, quality, and efficiency of the Deloitte forensic processing by utilizing state-of-the-art technology and machine learned in a dedicated environment.

We have an urgent need for a Lead Software Engineer in Test to join the Deloitte Analytic & Forensic Technology practice and lead our test automation engineering and CI/CD test processes. This is a leadership position that will include both hands on responsibilities as well as managing the success of other SDET team members including both on-shore and off-shore. The Lead SDET's responsibilities also include both software development and testing tasks. This includes, but not limited, to guiding other engineers to have a strong focus the testability, robustness, and performance of software solution. The ideal candidate for this position is a test professional with advanced programming skills who can create automation testing tools and frameworks to assist the manual testing process.

To fill the Lead SDET position, you should have excellent time management and organizational skills as well as strong communication skills. You should have a passion for designing, development, and testing and the ability to upgrade your technical skills within the constantly changing technology sector.

Here are just some to the things you will do:

  • Provide technical leadership for the design and implementation of data driven software test automation
  • Maximize levels of automated test coverage with flexible, manageable, and durable tests
  • Control the team’s Defect and Bug tracking processes
  • Develop and manage test plans for releases and guide others on how to best do this.
  • Debug and help troubleshoot issues to determine route causes
  • Plan alongside developers and refine feature user stories for agile scrum teams
  • Work with product owners, developers, and stake holders to define clear and testable acceptance criteria
  • Conduct unit test code reviews and advise developers on ways to write better tests
  • Lead a culture that values automated tests and craves seeing each green checkmark added
  • Evangelize the importance of test and quality as a key component in software engineering

The position is in Morrisville, NC.

Qualifications
Required:

  • A passion for testing, development, and design
  • Minimum of 5 years of automated software test development with CI/CD pipelines
  • Expertise in Behavior Driven Development and writing executable acceptance criteria
  • Extensive experience testing JavaScript SPA frontends using Selenium, Protractor, or similar technologies
  • Knowledge of microservices, REST APIs, and docker containers
  • Experience with SQL using PostgreSQL or similar RDBMS solution
  • Experience doing performance testing with tools such as JMeter or MSFT Load Test
  • The ability to recognize risks and errors in an application
  • Superior interpersonal communication skills and teamwork mindset
  • Experience working on an Agile scrum team and delivering features incrementally
  • Extensive experience writing use cases with developers and business leaders
  • Experience creating containerized feature test environments for integration and end to end testing
  • Experience conducting demonstrations of features to peers and senior leadership
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or engineering discipline
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future

Desired:

  • Experience leading a QA team and reporting performance and milestones to senior leaders
  • Experience with bug tracking in Azure DevOps
  • Experience with Dotnet Core
  • Experience working with peers and managers who are geographically dispersed
  • Experience working in a startup environment
  • Experience conducting technical evaluations and interviews
