Job Description
The Director of Product Engineering for Buying Confidence Initiative will be responsible for serving as the engineering group leader for multiple teams. These initiatives include about 4 or 5 squads with a focus on product features across the core buyer experience on Etsy. This position serves as the Engineering leader and partner to the Product Management initiative lead. As the senior Engineering leader, this position has strategic responsibility for all engineering aspects of the initiatives and will be responsible for successfully implementing projects to achieve these strategic outcomes. In this role, you will lead other engineering managers to accomplish assigned goals and achieve critical metrics.
About the Role
- You will act as a strategic lead on high-profile projects, leading large, often multi-functional organization-wide projects.
- You will collaborate with our product and design team to craft plans that achieve our business goals while scaling the platform to match the growth of the business.
- You will build systems and processes to streamline operations, especially with product development and collaboration between infrastructure teams.
- You will assist in recruiting and hiring key employees.
- You will establish relationships with the engineering leadership team and others across the organization to drive outcomes.
- You will draft and edit internal and external communications including newsletters, reports, and presentations.
- You will bring together multiple partners and help drive decisions.
- You will handle the meeting cadence for the leadership team, ensuring materials are sent in advance, time is well spent, and objectives are achieved.
- You will research, benchmark, analyze data, and make recommendations on both product and technology.
- You are accountable for compensation and promotion decisions for your group; you act in a thoughtful and rigorous way that supports long-term health.
About You
- You can work independently to define and tackle unconstrained problems.
- You possess excellent written and verbal communication skills for audiences from junior individual contributors to executives.
- You're comfortable collaborating closely with engineers, managers, and other organizations at all levels.
- You have the ability to influence outcomes without direct management.
- You have at least 5+ years of experience leading engineering teams and engineering managers.
- Experience managing at least 2 levels of managers.
- You have experience leading large projects on both web and mobile apps.
